My 10mb Virgin runs at the full 10mb all day every day as long as you watch when you download big files as they cut your speed by 75% during most of the day if you go over 1 or 2gb.  Generally very happy with mine.  Download a nice constant 1200kb/s off the Giganews server

i'm averaging 7000 kbps (7mb) but i'm bloody paying for 10  

So their claims of being no speed loss due to fibre optic cables is slightly inaccurate :-?

Technicaly they are right, but its also based on the local exchange, if loads of people down your road are high downloaders you will get less speed.

But if your the only computer boff on your street, speeds will be higher  

But do you actually get fibre optic all the way into your house?

i think the fibre optic ends quite a distance away , it would take a fair amount of equip to convert the fibre op to electical , therfore i would think the fibre op only makes up a small part of it.
