Agreed. It's a PITA. Especially when you find it leaking 2 weeks later, although that was down to a pattern water pump fitted at the same time. :-X

All done & dusted.
EML on when finished & for some strange reason TC light  ???. Then plugged IACV in & throttle postion switch  ::) ::) EML still on  ??? ??? Then plugged EGR valve in and all lights off.  ::) ::) ::) ::) I was cold & wanted to get in the house .............  ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's very definitely the 1st & last V6 thermostat I ever fit, by comparison, my diseasal Astra's 'stat took 10 mins from start to finish.

Ouch! I've got to do my 3.2 sometime this year, just waiting to do the TD first as they've both got to be done. Maybe I'll pay one of the experts on here to do the V6 just to learn how to do it properly :D :D :D :y

If it's any consolation, the b'stard bolt is more of a PITA bolt, not as bad as its reputation.  ;) ;) ;) ;)

I do admit that even though it took me half a dozen attempts to get a start on it, when it did, it started fairly easily.  :y :y :y

Anyone know the procedure for removing/ replacing the old stat from the housing if using a pattern stat rather then VX complete with housing ?
I have a spare one complete with link pipe I can play with.

The 'stat itself just pushes in a little, turn it & then it'll come out of the housing. But if yours is anything like mine was, you'll struggle removing the 'stat housing from the transfer pipe, I ended up sawing through the end of the housing so I could remove the pipe. I'd bought the whole thing so could sacrifice the old one.
If my camera hadn't died I could'e photo'd it for you.  :(
