Reality Bites

When the kids finally grew up and left home 4 years ago and after making sure they were settled/happy etc. I sold everything I had, house, furniture, cars and such. I have spent the last 4 wonderful years travelling around. 2 years in Oz where both my Mother and Sister live. I felt like a teenager again. HOWEVER....real life has come a knocking. Money all spent, visa expired. Time to face the real world again. Back in the UK in two weeks. Have to find a job, somewhere to live and a car as soon as the plane lands. Not easy at 50 and very worrying but I wouldn't swap the last 4 years for anything.

I keep saying to the wife "we need to do it now". In a few years time we might have a bit more money but will we be capable.

worked in banks most of my life.  Time to try something new. I did run a pub for a few years, that was fun, perhaps I'll try it again.

After two years in OZ it's going to be tuff comming "home" i guess. My brother moved out there nearly ten years ago, he has been back home several times on hollidays but says it would be very hard to come back and live here again. At least you will have some great memories of your "time out" I hope you come back and find work quickly. good luck  :y

I really would look in other directions, the pub trade has changed a lot in the last four years and the industry is on its knees  :-/

Depending where you were in Oz, bring a thick jumper.... You may need it.

I have a feeling it wont be long before you go back though :y

loads of great memories. Wish I could stay. I have been back to UK on visits to see my girls but apart from seeing them, there is nothing in England for me. From reading posts on here and stories in the papers it appears UK no longer a great place to be?

It get's worse on a daily basis i'm afraid, we live on a stunning island that everyone is slowly making a sh*t hole  >:( I have two years to decide if i emigrate to OZ before i'm to "old" to do so, and with every passing day it becomes more and more tempting
