Seth's father - Sad tidings
« on: 13 May 2012, 18:20:08 »

I must inform you all that Byron's dad Trefor sadly passed away peacefully earlier this afternoon at Bridgend's Princess of Wales Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He was 85 years of age.
Byron and his step-mother were at his bedside when he slipped away, and are naturally devastated at this time.

A WW2 veteran, he was a proud father, dear father-in-law and doting grandfather/great grandfather, who spent his entire working life in the coal-mining industry.

Thank you,
Pamela (aka Mrs Seth)

The family feel that it's entirely appropriate to add a couple of photos below of this great chap.
They were taken a while ago, at the poppy field outside Westminster Abbey on the occasion of a War Veterans service.

It sounds like, sad as it is, the passing was a relief from sufferings.

Our deepest condolences to all of the friends and family left behind. Remember, he has only moved on to a better place.

Very sad news indeed and my thoughts are with Byron and family.

The following few words by Thomas Moore will always, to my mind at least, be appropriate to those of us who have served this country when we must eventually commit ourselves to the memory of those we are obligated to leave behind.

When I remember all the friends, so link'd together,
I've seen around me fall, like leaves in wintry weather;
I feel like one who treads alone some banquet-hall deserted,
whose lights are fled, whose garlands dead, and all but he departed!
Thus, in the stilly night, ere slumber's chain has bound me,
sad memory brings the light of other days around me.

Thus, as we leave the failing light of evening to face the darkness and uncertainty of night, we must look for the light shed by those whom we knew and loved - shed to guide us home; home to those we have loved.

Always sad to read of such things but it is a comfort, however slight, to know that the real thoughts and life experiences have been shared with the next generation as well as their comrades past over the intervening years since conflict.

Rest peacefully, proud soldier, knowing your deed is done and you now defend your maker.

Sincere condolences......
