On behalf of the entire family, please accept our sincere thanks for all the kind messages that we've received during this sad time.

At mid-day today, and led by a standard-bearing Royal British Legion contingent, Byron, his brother and their nephews carried Trevor on his final journey, with his coffin suitably draped with a Union Jack flag.

A beautifully-delivered service was followed by a really nice reception - where Byron and his elder cousins/colleagues/mates are still 'going strong' (as I compile this), reminiscing their happy childhoods under Uncle Trev's gentle guidance.

Once again everyone, thank you all very much (and roll on Newent!)
Pamela.

At 10am this morning, Dad's ashes were interred on a plot at the local Crematorium's garden of remembrance.

Accompanied by Pam, my step-mother, step-sister and a small family gathering, we bade a final and dignified farewell to the old soldier in beautifully peaceful surroundings.
RIP Dad, and thanks for everything.

And once again, sincere thanks to all OOFers for the kindness and sympathy shown to us on here.

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi Gwlad beirdd a chantorion enwogion o fri Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwlad garwyr tra mad Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed. Gwlad Gwlad, Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad, Tra mor yn fur i'r bur hoff bau O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau . :(

Translation:
The old land of my fathers is dear to me Country of poets and singers celebrities of fame Her valiant warriors, patriots most excellent, For freedom they lost their blood. Country Country, partial I am to my country, while the sea is a wall to the pure blessed country O let the ancient language remain .

Only just seen this and feel so sad for his family. He looks such a great man with such happiness in his eyes. i know a couple of veterans and love the stories they tell and it gives me more pleasure talking to them than people my own age. Puts the younger generation to shame the way most of them act and live today.  RIP
