Haynes Manual Question (non-omega... Mercedes)
« on: 22 May 2012, 18:52:50 »

Hi chaps, hope you're all well and bloody loving this weather  ;)

In the next couple of weeks I am going to service a mate's Mercedes C-Class Coupe. Went to see it today as I wanted to familiarise myself with the engine. Really looks very easy.... remove the HUGE platic cover and it's all there...plus the most pointless plastic ''flap'' covering the brake fluid resevoir  :-\

Anyway, I'm going to give it a full service. And cos of this I'm going to get a Haynes manual just to double check the things I will do. The car is this: (Merc C-Class Coupe 220 CDI)... not the actual car but exactly the same.

However, Mr Haynes doesn't appear to do a specific manual... but will this one be ok do you think....

TIA chaps  :y :y :y :y

Haha my bad Bro Montana ;)

oooh by the way, can i bleed and flush the brake fluid like a mig? i.e. the two person method ''press-release'' or do yoiu reckon it'll need a different method.

her car dont have a dipstick either and the level is given on her car's dash computer. how stupid is that! obviously checking the level is fine but you'd want to check the quality too  ::)

on all diesels it is glow plugs innit?

Before you drain the oil out make sure there is a dipstick fitted and not just a stopper, not all Mercs have dipsticks, there classed as workshop tools, don't rather ask me how I found out :-X

Cheers guys. really looking forward to it.  just ordered the haynes manual. it is nice to work on different things as it's all experience.

i'm going to admit it now, when i'm qualified i'd really like to work for mercedes. i've always loved them and as i get older i'm interested more in the big lux barges as opposed to the sporty 2 seaters  :y

just a quickie and its just for discussion really as im sure the haynes will tell me.... glow plugs. are they same procedure for removal as spark plugs? will ii need a special socket do you think?

just thinking also i can prob get her some vaux diesel engine oil on trade  :y

Webby, if the glowplugs are working ok leave well alone, its very east to snap one off in the head due to there small diameter and being steel into aluminium

you should find that the aux belt is quite easy to change, spring loaded tensioner much like the mig, draw a pic of the belt routing first though :D,the glowplugs aren't a service replacement part anyway so no worrys there :y :y
