As Taxi Driver says buy a cree led torch. Once you've seen one of these then all your other torches will become redundant .
I had numerous led torches ,Maglite inc. but I don't even know where they are now as I bought cree torches for the cars ,house and three for the van.
Do as he recommends ........ :y

I use an led lenser p7 every day, comfortabley fits in my trouser pocket and I replace  the batteries about once a month. Just over 3 inches and uses 4 aaa batteries and about 220 lumens on full. Very easily adjusted beam, from spot to focus one handed. had it for 2 years and has been dropped many times, got very wet but it keeps on working. :y

That's interesting to note that the Maglites can be uprated, I have a 6 D Cell, quite a beast if good quality heavier batteries are used.... ;) ;)   and a Mini Mag both dating from the early 90's still in regular use with Halogen bulbs....... :y :y
