Actually, I have one of those red silicone tubes. My brother changed his cam covers on Audi A6 2.5 V6. On those cars there are no gaskets, you only put this sealant instead of it. Maybe it's also OK to use it here?

No, for the GM V6, you need to use the gasket.

Because if you have blocked breathers, you want that gasket to blow. Otherwise the pressure is just transferred elsewhere, such as the crank seal.

Any silicone that falls off and it will end up blocking and starving the oil pump ending in tears  :'( :'(

I probably didn't write clearly what I thought ^^ What I meant was, maybe it's okay to use that red sealant instead of the GM black sealant?

depends whether it sets hard. The GM black stuff stays pliable/flexible, whereas some other sealants set pot hard

Remove gasket from cover and clean cover and gasket by brake cleaner
Apply RTV to cover
 install old gasket in valve cover
apply RTV on gasket
clean head by br cleaner
install cover

install cover

You don't need to apply any sealant on the cover or gasket, head only. Around the half moons front & rear, as per our guide  :)
