My electric guitar playing was always my favourite sound as a teenager.Parents and neighbours didnt agree though. My bedroom was 8x8 in a 3 bed terrace house,so a vox AC30 permanently at maximum volume didnt go down well.
Not exactly cheap these days:

That's probably a valve model, almost considered "vintage". Brand new ones are actually cheaper.

Paid £60 for mine.Gave it so much stick it kept blowing valves,so I binned it. :'(
Paid £250 in 1977 for a sunburst stratocaster, which was approx 5 years old.Lost interest in 1979 and sold it for £150.Dread to think what that would be worth now. ::)

My daughter played clarinet and bassoon in a local school's band & orchestra and each term there would be concerts to attend. The older 'senior' bands/orchestras were fantastic but obviously you had to watch the 'training' groups first .......
As said, you need to start somewhere.  ::) ::)

Been there myself tho'. Paid £850 for a JayDee bass that I soon found I just didn't get on with and only got £500 when PX'd for a MusicMan.
Not long after I discovered the JayDee had been custom built for Lisa Standfield's bass player and was worth around £1,650.   :-[

Many many years ago my eldest daughter learned the violin,I know where you're coming from, the racket she made was unbelievable! After many weeks/months she was actually pretty good at it,and then she packed it in!!!!

I played bass in a band for a while when I was 16.It had a warped neck, so I had to remember to bend the strings up on certain notes. ;D
Never enjoyed it that much tbh.

Well, I'm not an expert, but I think that 1970's Strats like these are smack bang in the CBS period so are regarded by collectors as "inferior". Not a bad price for "inferior".
