Surely it's an assumption until you know the cold hard facts from the people involved, not word of mouth ::)

The OP was fully involved with the injured party in their house and the foreman stating "no 999" in front of them.  I have no reason to doubt the OP's account of what happened as he was involved.  ::) ::) ;)

For a start neither of us were there so we are both assuming, correct?

From what I have read, and i'm only assuming because I wasn't there. The op got home from doing errands and there was a young man in the kitchen. It sound to me like he had told the op's other half what had happened and the op other half had not seen it.

So what you are saying Pete is that no matter what members post on here as fact, that they have witnessed, we should not believe them until it is upheld in a court of law?

You and I both know that will never be right and proper and for most of us in life we have to at least give some respect to the people claiming to be witnesses and believe them in the first instance until proved untruthful. If not, then I agree with TB that this whole "General Chat" section should be closed down as a dis-credited medium where it will always be open for one's persons opinion to be pitted against another, with constant arguing about the validity of the information being discussed.

This thread, like so many, is purely what one person believes to be the case, no more, no less and on a car forum we can never ascertain the legalities of it all.  In this case we can only take what 78bex has stated that HE was there, and even spoke to the foreman, but obviously Pete you have read something different. ;) ;)

Maybe the boss did report the accident, we don't know whether he did or not.  ::) A lot of assuming going on here.....

Personally I wouldn't think a hurt foot is an emergency 999 situation, when there are people who could take the bloke to A&E in a car.  :-\

Don't think it is assumption Tigger. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to recognise that the foreman didn't want it treated as a 999 incident as straight away it becomes an official accident with all the ramifications of the HSE becoming involved.  Anyone who has been a manager in business like me knows exactly what that means, with a very real danger of personal prosecution, fines and in the extreme case, a prison sentence.  At the very least it involves loads of paperwork and civil legal action from the injured party and insurance company 'hassle'.  That is what this guy was trying to avoid! ::) ::) ;)

Here's the original post where the assumption word got mentioned. Now you are more than likely right about the foreman but I would say without  hearing his side of it you are baseing what you think on assumptions?

Anyway, i'll leave it now as i'm not so pig headed as to have to win at all costs, you could be right about this post and whats wrong with the forum ::)

So now we cannot discuss / debate as adults without feeling very self conscious or even guilty about our actions? ::) ::) ::) ::)

Now that IS going to scare off the timid members in making a comment. :o :o ;) ;)

Pete and I simply questioned each other on the question of "assumption", that is all.  I think we are still friends ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y :y

Fair enough tigers! :y :y :y :y :y

It is such a delicate subject at the moment (perhaps far  too sensitive for my liking) that now it is easy to take things in an overly serious way.  Sorry Tigers! :y :y :y

That may be the case Lizzie and many have assumed that, but it might not be the case.  That's all I was saying.  ::)
