A303 every time!  ;)

The danger of the M4/M5 route is that it's so dull (you go past Reading!  ::)) and boring that by the time you get to Bristol, you'll be fast asleep and will end up in Wales!!!  :o  ;D

"Bristol?" I hear you cry "That's nowhere near Cornwall....."  Exactly!  :)

M25/M3/A303/A30/M5/A38/onwards  On a Sunday morning it will be absolutely fine!  :y

There are services and, indeed, junctions, on m4/m5 for dog walks etc

Going up to come back down, means avoiding the god awful 303.
Stop-start sprint from roundabout to roundabout. I hate the A303. If you let the BMW drivers get under your skin and demonstrate the superior performance of the 3.2 you will be covered in puke by your passengers before you get to the crawl past Stonehenge.

If I am coming from North of London I go M4/M5 to Exeter (& try very hard to stay awake) then A30 into Cornwall

If I am coming from South of London I go M3 to Southampton then M27/A27/A35/A31/A30 to Exeter then A30 into Cornwal

Google maps does indeed recommend the A303 as the quickest route over the m4/5. From Wallmingham to Looe.

...its quicker by...

...6 minutes. ;D

I'm in the middle of packing now. What fun. :o

I'm kind of favouring M4 at the moment due to thinking that the cats will get thrown from side to side if I take the A303.

I won't get bored as I'll have my housemate/friend with me and she never stops talking. I sometimes think my ears will fall off. ;D ;D ;D ;D

This is getting as controversial as a tyre thread!!  :o  ;D  Poor Kate must be really confused by now!!!  :D  ;D

My last word in favour of the A303 is that with animals in the car there are loads of places to stop, laybys and services etc, so Kate won't be in the situation where she has to drive 30 odd miles to the next motorway services with a cat on her head!!  :o  ::)  ;D

Most animals don't like roundabouts. I suspect the cat will be on her head if she takes the route with numerous roundabouts.

Add one more little kink to go through Alton and you could pop in for a cuppa.  ;D

Ahhh...but as google maps takes into account traffic at the time you asked it for the route....that will most likely be different when Kate leaves for Looe.....and i actually find A roads make me stay alert....ive actually done a Heathrow to Swindon pickup before....and come off at jn 14 then gone across country...to keep me awake  ::) ;D

That looks like the sort of route my ex-next door neighbour would have taken. Years ago he was going from Sandhurst to Cornwall on holiday with his family and managed to go via Birmingham and Yeovil.  :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D
