Must get my AP22 out and head over to my "private test track" to see what the 3.2 will do in comparison.

Or maybe I should loan it to TheBoy to check out the battle bus first.  ;D

 ;)

60 MPH in........ZZZzzzzz (snore) I hear it's shit slow. :D :D ;D

Stock 2.0l Capris run 17.1 seconds at about 75mph all day at Santa Pod.
Mildly tweaked mk1 3.0l just breaks into the 15s. Sometimes!

A friend's road legal Fiat 126 is now running very low 9s!

Those Omega stats are pretty good figures for a heavy, smallish engined car

 Low nines.... :o :o :o Strewth !!!.... that is quicker than a Hayabusa or ZZR 1400. I'm guessing that this particular Fiat 126 doesn't have it's original twin cylinder air-cooled 30 BHP engine. :D ;D ;D ;D

Tuned 400ci smallblock with nitrous. Chris reckons that it's gets a bit twitchy when he backs off at over 130mph.

The red one is what I mentioned. His brother also has a Chevy engine in his blue car, and the yellow one uses a 1600 MR2 engine/gearbox/suspension and was built for his daughter.

The other Tax Racing cars are pretty hardcore; Brian's bigblock, nitrous tubeframed Anglia is seriously impressive.

By comparison my CLS 500 manged 14.2 sec for the quarter at 101.8 MPH.

5.6 to sixty and 14 dead to 100 MPH*.

* denotes private test facility. :)

I know it's gone now but that's very respectable figures for a big heavy car. :y  All of those figures are very similar to the 3.0d engine and that's certainly no slouch.   ;)
Bet that shocked a few people off the lights.  :y

How was you measuring? I think Opti was using accurate equipment, which is why its an interesting (to me) thread.

Using a stopwatch and speedo, my MV6 managed 7.1s on the flat. I'd love to get it on accurate equipment to see how accurate/inaccurate that was...

TB. At an indicated 60 MPH in my MV6 the performance box is showing 57.2 MPH.....roughly 5% optimistic.
The speedo an the Merc was even more inaccurate.

I imagine that speedo accuracy varies from car to car. :y

The electronics/mechanics of modern speedos are usually aimed to be around 2mph optimistic, before taking into account new/old tyres etc.

I believe that they have to be within 10% by law. :y

Back in the late 1970's, (as an impressionable teenager) I read a road test on the georgeous Moto Guzzi Le Mans....an 850cc V-twin if memory serves.

At an 'indicated' 100 MPH the Guzzi was only really moving across the planet at a true 77 MPH........Italians, don't you just love them. ;D ;D :D.

....and yes, I still want one. :-* :-*

Yep, they are not allowed to under-read by any degree, but are allowed to over-read by a decent margin, so the manufacturers have to aim high, depending on what the spread of readings will be from their design.

I remember my kit car was tested on a rolling road at SVA. It was allowed to read 70MPH at a true speed of 57 MPH - 70 MPH.
