Pug 206 Clock Spring: how the fek do you remove this?
« on: 14 August 2014, 20:42:14 »

Hi guys,

Had the wife's 206 on a Snap-on diagnostic tool at college couple of months back as her airbag light had come on.

Came up with drivers airbag squib (clock spring).

So, today found some time for it. Removed the air bag and its wiring real easy. Removed steering wheel real easy. Things were clearly going too easy cos 1. removing the wheel revealed I'd purchased the wrong clock spring and 2. I couldn't fathom how to get this off  ??? ???

Here's a pic with wheel removed and clock spring on show:

The centre shaft is what thesteering wheel goes over. The outer black plastic ring pushes in but still the whole assembly wouldn't budge.

Note that this is a pug 206 GTI and differs from the spring I've brought for standard 206's  ::).......

This one has orange tabs. The wife's has green and blue tabs

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks guys

Thanks mate, you're a star!

The one I've ordered and is widely known is the clock spring with 3 small retaining screws. The wife's doesn't have these, is larger in diameter and has blue and green connectors going to the air bag  :y
