The world would be a very dull (yet peaceful) place if everyone agreed with everyone else.
The thing that sets the modern world apart is the acceptance of pluralism. ie you are free to have your own thoughts and beliefs in a world where we allow others to have their own. That doesn't mean that one forces others to think and believe the same as them, that wreeks of the same small-mindedness that upsets them in the first place.
The irony in somebody, living in a country which allows the freedom of expression and religion, saying that they do not want to allow someone from [enter other religion/race here] doing certain things because they believe them to restrict their own freedom is, frankly, deafening.
And by insulting someone, then saying that by putting smilies afterward neutralises it in to a joke shows a distinct lack of social custom. Afterall, by that rule I could call someone I hardly know a c*m-guzzling thunderc*nt. But put smilies after and "it's ok, it's a joke". In reality there are few friends of mine I would even refer to that as a joke, but I know each friend's boundaries to banter and where to stop.
I have met Broocie in the flesh, he is an utter gent and one of the nicest blokes on here. To P him off you have to have acted pretty poorly.
Plus, I agree with the sentiment. This is not a beat up Cleggy moment, but your comments on Muslims are misguided and factually incorrect. I often stay out of the conversations because I do not want to bang my head against the proverbial wall. Some of the things you say display a certain level of ignorance on this issue you claim to know so much about. I do not purport to be an expert on the subject of Islam but I am one of the few on here who has actually lived in a muslim country while growing up and spent time later on in the middle east being shot at. Remeber this, religion is a method of control used by those in power and war is an extension of politics by other means (not my words just mixing up a bit of Clauswitz with some left-wing propoganda) and when you mix the two the only outcome is a lack of freedom of expression.
Oh, and if you think that Christianity is any better in it's Gospel than Islam have a litle watch of this factual scene from The West Wing from a deeply Christian character
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVL-gA1KpxQAgain, this is not Cleggy bashing. But rather I am trying to open your eyes up a little
