Judging by all these posts I must be a freak of nature as I am 6 feet tall and weigh 8.5 stone (not changed since I was 14 which is now 50 years ago).  I eat all the wrong things such as a whole ginger cake in about six large bites and plenty of chocolate etc.  Needless to say it drives my wife mad as she only has to look at at a cake to put on weight.  Must be high metabolic rate or good genes as my grandad was just the same.

it just goes to show that it is the luck of the draw. You are either skinny and can eat basically what you want or. like my wife, can look at a leaf of lettuce and run 6 miles and still put on 2lb!!!

Unfortunately STEMO it is true, ginger cake is one of my many weaknesses and I just wolf it down, my wife hates it and will leave the room when I start on one.  In fact she reckons that I must have a monster tape worm in my gut as nothing canl make me put on weight.  When I was young my parents even tried something called Complan as I was so underweight but it was a waste of time.  It's a bit of a sod getting sand kicked in my face but I am used to it now.

The only way to measure correctly is to use body fat calipers.
I,ve been working out for years and know exactly how to drop weight without losing muscle.
Its not easy and take's a lot of will power.....
I,m 6' 1" and started my 12 week cut about 4 weeks ago now.
Started at 16 stone 4lbs with 28% body fat (the beers and crap food had taken its tole over the last year)
working out 6 times a week (got my own gym in my workshop at the bottom of the garden) and eating 6 small meals a day 40% protein 40% carbs 20% fats.
I,m now at 15 stone 5 lbs and 13.63% body fat.
Abs come in at around 10%.
I,ve been down to 5.8% before.
The workouts are killers as every 2 weeks I drop 150 calories and up the cardio by 10 minutes.
Worth all the effort though as you feel amazing with mega high energy levels.
about 9 weeks in I start to add the calories back in.
Give it ago anyone can do it if your strong willed.

I went to the gym 3 days a week for 2 hrs each time years ago for a year , lost a stone then put it all back on  in muscle  :( Its hard work keeping fit and in my case did me more harm than good .. Once you build muscle you have to work harder to keep it , then if you drop the routine everything turns to fat very quickly  :(

5'11" - 12st 6lb.

Reasonably physical job, lots of heavy lifting, but also lots of driving which also means lots of Breakfast Rolls and Burgers.

Physically, I look reasonably fit - I bet my Cholesterol level is massive.  Add to that I drink 4-5 pints a night, and on a weekend that is more like 8 or 9 pints.

I'm 32 years old.

I can't believe 90% of this forum is over 6' tall..... and the vast majority are fat bastards too!  ;D
