Lambda Sensor 1   Violet   X85 Pin28 Blue   Pin28 Brown/Blue   X83 Pin57/8 Black/Grey   Pin36 Yellow
Lambda Sensor 2   Violet/Grey   X85 Pin44 Blue   Pin47 Brown/Blue   N/A   N/A

On the Z22XE, Y26SE and Y32SE engines there are two connectors on the ECU and we indicate above which connector is applicable. On the Y32SE/Y26SE X86 is the connector where the loom emerges and heads through the bulkhead into the car interior. X85's loom runs across to the cable tray on the engine.

On the Z22XE, X84 heads to the bulkhead while X83 heads to the engine.

Sorry to be a pain, but don't want to make things worse! The above is from the guide, so I need to disconnect and dismantle the ECU connector? Only 1 wire for the Lambda there though? Which one at the Lambda end will that be?

Well that's not fixed it  :(

Has reduced the codes back to P0170, but still not running right.

Live data looks strange as o2 sensor (new genuine gm) goes rich and lean if accelerating / decelerating but never seems to cycle at cruise / idle. Then after a while all the live data stops and the only was to get it back is switch off engine and start again.

ECU on the way out? Faulty new Lambda?

Or time to drive it to Trents while it still moves?!

Steve
I think thats normal . So have you got live data readings to chuck up...What code reader you got ,,,Maybe putting your live data up may help  :-\

PS. Got another Cam sensor here if you wanna try it to be sure the one you got from GM is ok  :y

Z22XE

X84 Pin64 Black

X84 Pin62 Green

X83 Pin57 Black

X83 Pin 58 Grey

So on the engine loom plug pins 57 and 58 are the ones you need to test for continuity to the lamda sensor, and on the body loom, pins 62 and 64. Simply unplug and move the cable so the plug is reachable from the engine bay... that way you should, with an extra pair of hands, be able to check the wiring continuity with a multi meter :y

Well wiring seems ok, good continuity the the sensor.

A high pitched wining noise seems to have developed on the rear left of the engine now, so I am wondering if my searching for a vacuum leak was not good enough. All the pipes in this area seem in tact - any likely suspects?

Many thanks

Was o2 sensor brought from stealers by yourself or ordered online?

I had a used pair off OOF originally, then just a front one from Eden VX in Bournemouth - collected myself. Currently running on used rear and new VX front.

This is my noise:

If I pull the vacuum hose from brake servo I can change the pitch of the noise by covering / uncovering the end of the pipe and it does not start for about 40 seconds after startup.

Inlet manifold and throttle body all seem secure - bolts / nuts at correct torque. I could pop the inlet off I suppose and check mating surfaces and gasket but thats not a 5 min job.

Thats probably a fair point, I should not have sat down in front of the wood burner really!

I will have it off tomorrow and see if there is anything to see - I hope not though as only went back on a few months ago!

Theres also where the egr is at the rear of the head, that gasket might have failed.

So I think I've finally found the problem - gasket that secures the casting with the egr and temp sensors to the block had failed at the bottom. No idea why as was new when HG changed.

Does anyone know what this part is called?

Many thanks again for all the help.
