You just can't help some people
« on: 18 January 2015, 11:17:45 »

Just nipped to the shops, and a young girl was turning back round at the same place as me, so as we passed each other, I politely suggested that due to the misty/foggy conditions that turning her lights on might be a good idea.
Her reply ............ I'm only going down the road!!!  ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? To which I said ...... so - when someone hits you cos they could/didn't see you, it'd be OK cos you were only going a short distance. The reason why she might want her lights on in the conditions went completely over her (blonde) head!  ??? ???

I was then following her as she turned off the main road and I got a hand gesture that suggested I play with myself!

No wonder with numpties like that the powers-that-be say we've to now have day time running lights  ???

My lad has told me that I must ignore them. They are everywhere, blissfully unaware that no one can actually see them until they appear out of the gloom at about twenty yards. The ranting that ensues is likely to give me a heart attack, he says.
Probably right, but my evil side wants them to collide with a f*****g big lorry.

I'm not sure that women are suited to mechanical devices. I once had to reserve a woman's car from it's parking space.

"You have the same make of car as I do" she purred "so you'll know where reverse gear is".

This was in the early eighties. I drove a Triumph 2500S.....her car was a Dolomite. ;D ;D

Women and logic. ;D ;D

No.... it was a1976 (P reg) 2500S. It came with Stag wheels and twin SU carbs. The book quoted 99BHP.

It also returned about 13 MPG. :-\

I remember touring Somerset, Devon and Cornwall back in 1983. Most of the time the car was in O/D top. It still barely managed 20 MPG. :-\

Doesn't surprise me with those SU carbs.
A friend of mine had the PI variant back in 1982 (in black), don't think that ever saw any more than 20mpg either (mind you, petrol back then was about 35p per litre).
I had the automatic version of the 2000S (in green). Quick car for what it was, but an absolute dinosaur by todays standards.

An old girlfriend of mine owned an 'M' reg Toledo. During that period I owned a 1972 Triumph 1500 registration FUE 756K. This was one of the few that was FWD.
