This makes sobering reading and is documented on the invoice as a 'small service' to include a complimentary visual health check.

For the Signum and not the Omega.

Here goes. :y

Sump plug washer.............................................................. £2.93 plus VAT.

Oil Filter..............................................................................£18.25 plus VAT.

Vauxhall Dexos 5w-30. 6 litres at £9.50 a litre..............£57.00 plus VAT.

It gets worse.

They have also charged for 1 hour of labour.....................63.75 Plus VAT

Environmental charge .......................................................£9.00 Plus VAT.

Subtotal Total....................................................................£150.93 Plus VAT.

Grand total........................................£181.11 for an oil and filter change. :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Certainly not.

However, the previous owner of my Signum was not short of a bob or two.

I think that 'they saw him coming' :-\

Too many dealers try to hoodwink their customers by wrapping a vastly overpriced an oil and filter change in pretty clothes by calling it a 'small service' or an 'interim service'

Wifey's megane was serviced by the local back street mechanic recently. Oil+filter, air filter, front discs and pads renewed. £280 with vat.

It's a special Vx one. If you don't use genuine Vx parts, your car will break. Any dealer will tell you this, Webby.

That's seems a low labour rate! Local main dealers here are charging just shy of £100 per hour  inc.vat :o
