I'm not taking the piss when I say Renault make some decent cars. :)

In which firkin dimension?

Remind us who owns 43.4% of the manufacturer of your car, again? ;)

Which explains some of the build quality, or lack thereof ;D

The fog light thingy is now common on lots of cars.Citroens and Seats to name just two.This is another "new" idea,quite forgetting that the original DS pre-empted this in the '60's/'70's.with its swivelling headlamps!

I've often wondered where this stands under the law ...  AFAIK it is illegal to use fog lights if the visibility is greater than 100 metres (highway code rules 226 / 236 and RVLR 1989 Section part III regulation 27 table 1 section 2 (b)) ... so how do they get away with wiring them in this way ??

So not only is it bloody stupid, it is illegal as well .. IMHO
Stupid, illegal and French...what have I done?  ;D

I believe that they use the fog light... Cheap solution to a problem that doesn't exist... Proper cars with Adaptive Forward Lighting etc use a dedicated bulb in the headlight cluster ;)

Actually .......  ::) The original didn't. The swivelling lamps came in with the later cars.  ;)

Exactly. Half a dozen lines of code in an ECU somewhere and you have another "feature" you can put in the brochure.

I just assumed that when Baza said 'the original DS' he meant 'that original shape' to differentiate between the classic DS and the newer models ie: there are new DS models now. Much like Viva, 500, Mini, etc...

'Ooh, BMW should do a 1275GT like they did on the original Mini' well, no, technically the 1275 GT came out ten years after the 'original' mini, but we'd all know what was meant by that statement.

So after we've all retrofitted DRLs and LED lamps, we've got to make our fog lights come on when we turn a bit? So people know that the turning car is in fact turning? Ugh! Sounds like the Homer Simpson 'Everything is OK Alarm' to me... look it up  :)

I was thinking about buying an original Mini for a fun runabout, but they're fetching serious cash these days! £5-6000 for a decent one!  :o

Might be a good investment though?  :-\   ::)  :)
