On the one hand, I'd like to punch her in the face for being an irritating, self-important cow. But on the other hand, I'd like to kiss her just in case she actually pulls it off and we can stop having to listen to the whining from the SNP.

Keep going and having referendums till you get the right result.

Might just be that Hadrians wall (presumably at the Scots expense) will have to be rebuilt and manned. ;D ;D

I want the Scots to be happy.

If the majority of  Scots are unhappy with the union then I think it best we part company.

I would caution wee Jimmy though.....be careful what you wish for.

I'm not sure whether she's doing this for the sake of the country, looking for massive concessions from Westminster to keep her quiet, or whether she's just trying for a place in history.
Scotland just doesn't have the economic clout to survive on it's own, an there'll be no European Parliament to run to if they have problems with England, because we'll have left. The old oil revenue argument has, for now, gone. I just can't see anything to be gained, other than nationalistic 'pride'.
One things for sure, until they get another referendum, with a resounding 'no', they won't be quiet. SNP, that is, not the Scots as a nation.

Possibly.

But if the average Glaswegian could be encouraged to double or treble his/her intake of Scotch then the GDP of Scotland would grow significantly. :)

Scotland can't afford to be independent.

Would Spain say welcome an independent Scotland into the EU, with the Catalonia question in the background ?

The whole thing is nonsense.

However if by some mischance she did win a second referendum then the Treasury should say, Okay but you do not get one penny more from us, no more Barnett formula. no more UK contracts for navy shipyards etc, etc. You want to go it alone then do so. Might be a problem over Faslane but we could agree to rent it for a 1p a year for 100 years.

I still think the border plus having to adopt the Euro will kill the idea dead not to mention their fair share of the national debt based on area  ;D ;D ;D

It annoys me that the idea is even given credence. Scotland wants to stay in the EU. Hellooooo......Scotland is not in the EU.

Her demand was inevitable .
The SNP have been doggedly working towards their goal for decades and a rebuke by the people of Scotland was never going to get in their way, No ,that was just an unplanned for and irritating minor setback.
The political scene in Scotland is in total collapse with the SNP having NO opposition, they believe it is their time and want it.
It matters not what the fiscal policy is as no government stays with the initial plan so they can propose virtually anything knowing that the dice will fall where they fall and blame can always be attributed to something or someone beyond their control.
In 2014 oil was the mainstay of the promised wealth for all but that was quietly dropped when the bum fell out of that industry.
The SNP know that once independent there is no way back so they will have it all , forever , and if it all goes wrong .." well you voted for it didn't you ".
Scotland enjoys all the benefits ,and more , that the whole of the UK does and will find it utterly impossible to provide anything remotely equal to that level of quality of life using the revenue raised from a populace of 5.2 million.  National Health Service .... ? wake up people .
I am Scottish and live in Ireland . With a population of 4.7 million it is living a hand to mouth existence with everyone expecting a similar standard of living to UK and getting none of it . I visited Ireland many times prior to moving here and before their acceptance into the EU it was a poverty stricken place .
Will the EU be the cash cow it's been in the past ? Mmm not sure I'd be certain of that  ......
I urge any Scot to look carefully, very carefully , at the machinations of this little country as that is what is before you if you decide to " go it alone " .
I'd bet that within a short time that the political landscape would follow this broken one and witness the rise of the "Independent " MP and break away factions of the "real " SNP. Then the real fun begins    ;D
However in saying all that, all she needs to do is screen Braveheart once a week in the month before the vote and it's a "shootie in ...."

Not only does she want to remain in the EU. She wants Scotland to be independent. How is that not a contradiction in terms ? !  ::)
I doubt Theresa will allow her to have another vote any time soon, so she will probably stamp her wee feet and get more power and more free money.
If she did have the vote I think she would lose again and that would finish her career. The thought of the cursed Euro for a currency and a hard border (which would, imo be inevitable) would concentrate minds.
If she did win the vote, I predict the Scottish economy would be in third world territory in less than a decade, and they would be begging to rejoin the UK.
