TB may as well superglue the accelerator to the floor and be done with it.
One tries ones best ::), but causes a lot of brake dust as the electronics try to get it back in a straight line ;D

Seems to be 3 modes, normal that keeps things all on the straight and narrow, dynamic which tightens throttle, suspension and turns down stability control enough to cause a tweak of a clench when hoofing a bit hard around the roundabouts, and off which makes your gonads grow and your arse cheeks ache.

Following on from STEMO's thread on why have a big engine, I reckon if I did a decent motorway run at tad below 60 and just stuck the cruise on behind a truck, I'd crack 70mpg.

Queue comments about how boring that would be  :)

I'm sure that nobody on this forum would stoop so low. ;)

Well... Driving for economy in a car knowingly capable of much more is one thing...

Driving a shitbox slowly is a whole different level of smugness...

Far rather drive a 160+mph car economically than strive to eek every last penny from a diesel that cannot top 130...

Car first registered 2011, 100k.

Hold the phone! TB has bought a car built in this decade (just)!

I nearly fell off me perch.

You may have noticed, that I do have the choice of both. The V6 160+ mph car or the diesel, I made the choice to take the diesel on the long route, due to the £30-40 I'd save on fuel.

As that can go towards other things as my income also provides for my wife and daughter.  ;)

You presumed that I meant an Omega... The statement was that I, and others, would drive larger/faster petrol cars than family diesels... But that's not to say that different people have different needs ;)

+1

I'm glad you said that. I've noticed that in the "real world" i'm getting there just as fast in my Mondeo with a tdci lump than my old one with the T5 lump - with the added bonus of saving north of £250 pa in road tax & a grand a year on fuel. 70 in one is the same as 70 in the other.

Have you noticed that the new income based speeding fines have come in today BTW. :-X

Oi! When I bought my beloved Bullet, it was only from the previous decade/century/millenium :P. And TBE was only from the previous decade as well ;D

In reality, I tend to hang on to the good cars - the Bullet was 5yrs old when I bought it 14yrs ago....

And I've had the highly strung TBE since 2010.

Mr Imber? :D

Or that other Omega, which coincidentally isn't a V6 either... With the gearing in that car, it should top 175... 8)

A fine looking and driving car.

All TB needs to do is drown out the chugga....chugga....chugga of the canal boat engine with some loud music. :)
