Rust indicates the presence of moisture, usually from the scuttle... It will only get worse ;)

Misfires are caused by one of two things... Oil reducing the current flow and moisture degrading the coil pack.  Both lead to misfire codes.

And this being the coil that sits under that bit of the scuttle that projects out a bit more tan usual would make sense. Havent had much rain here recently so hard to see any water or proper dampness although a wee bit of the foam i though seemed a wee bit damp.

I was asking earlier about the little top hat with the two pin holes in i, which is on the plastic breather, seem blocked when i blow through it but the pin holes seem clear. Any thoughts on that one from anyone, where do the pin holes vent to on the plastic breather?

Larger of the two middle pipes goes to the purge valve and the larger holes on the top hat.

Smaller of the two middle pipes goes to the small outlet on breather box at back of 135 head and the smaller holes on the top hat.

If you can't blow through then they're still blocked.

Ok i was blowing through the other 2 pipes that sit at the front while blocking the 4 pipes at back and no flow. I'll try what you suggested thanks.

I also found a very thin round rubber gasket, thinner than rocker covers ones that sit on securing bolts, i think goes on the plastic plenum securing screw.

The outer two pipes run the full length of the breather bridge and connect the throttle body to the large spigot on the breather box ;)

All pretty much standard stuff.the oil does tend to soften and swell the coil pack rubbers so be gentle with them and clean them best you can with something that won't make them worse.brake or carb cleaner is designed to be ok on rubber.mine were just as bad if fact I think about 3 had detached themselves from the coil pack.all was cleaned up and checked for damage.i glued mine back on with superglue and all was well.if car was running ok before it should be ok after in theory (coil pack wise).soak up / remove / suck etc oil from plug wells you choice of method.like others will say ,I used gm sealant on cover gaskets but at the end of the day it's only a silicone sealant so another brand should be ok ,can't see why not.

Really  :) what brand do you use then ??? Ruddy stuff I use damn nearlly melted me wubber gloves at the weekend  ;D

The boots don't need gluing on. They're a separate part designed to be replaceable and available separately. New coilpack should include them, but they areca service item ;)
