There are plenty of little bastids around where I work that need to be on the cull list.

Aren't these little shits supposed to be a school sometimes, or is it optional to turn up for the education services I pay for?
There's an easy answer to that, but no one is brave enough to do it. Make the parents actually take responsibility for their kids. I.e. if they don't go to school and behave while they are there, then you're going to court and possibly jail. If you are an Eastern European and you think your kids can act as they do in your shithole of a country, then you're all going back there.  :)

As a child I would have needed to loose a major limb in order to miss school.

Stomach ache or 'I don't feel well' simply didn't work.

Of course once at school, and after the register, I would often take the day off. ;D

It's amazing I passed the old 11 plus.

I would have thought school was infinitely preferable to sagging off in Lincolnshire. What did you do all day? Go carrot rustling?  ;D

Did you honestly know Keith Bennetts name before last week?

Yes. And even if I didn't would that take away my sincerity of wanting the family to find the remains of their poor child?
Not questioning your sincerity or a families right to lay a loved one to rest. I didn't, and therefore felt the question a valid one.

Five children die every day in the UK: http://www.rcpch.ac.uk/improving-child-health/child-mortality/child-mortality

Does singling one out not perform an injustice to the rest?

I wasn't singling any one of the child victims out. I mentioned Keith Bennet because TO MY KNOWLEDGE he was the only one that was never found and therefore his case is still open and surely that means his family can't properly grieve until he is found. (If my knowledge is incorrect feel free to berate me with lots of rolly eye smileys  :y)

With regards to 5 children dying every day in the UK.... I did not know this. However the topic here is about Ian Brady so I felt like replying if that's ok with you  :-\

May I suggest you set up another thread where we can discuss the link you posted?

As for this thread I'm not replying anymore cos I can't be arsed to justify every response I make.  :y
:y :y :y :y  Fully agree with you Webby :y :y :y

Totally with you on parental responsibility, STEMO, and it can be readily enforced using existing laws: for example, it the said little bugger is below the age of criminal responsibilty anhd they offend, it doesn't mean that they haven't commited an offence - just that they cannot be prosecuted for it But their parents CAN, becuse they will be Aiding and Abetting a crime, so they are equally culpable. It's a great pity that teachers cannot discipline the sods in school. A good caning would concentrate the mind!

Aiding and abetting only applies if the either knowingly, actively or willingly facilitate the offences.

Negligence at best :-\

Take Optis example... mother walks kid to school, kid checks in then bunks off, returning only for afternoon register before being collected.

No way the parents can be held accountable for that ::)

Shits spending all weekend scratching cars and breaking windows however, is a different prospect...

I made so many trips to see the headmaster for a beating there was a furrow in the floor.

I was told it was for my own good and 'character building'. :)

IMO....had the kids been brought up correctly...doing that would not have been on the agenda !!!!!! (at least not in my day)

That's what I don't understand about "modern" schooling, I know I'm old, but when I went to school you always sat at the same desk, no matter which classroom you were in, and the teacher for that lesson ALWAYS knew who was there and who was missing. Missing pupils were reconciled with the main register, and if you had "bunked off" it was blatantly obvious.... and difficult to do...

And that was with manual registers .. with computors in every classroom it must be simple for a teacher to see who should be present, and even faster to record that they are not, when found to be missing, followup action can start instantly.

There's an easy answer to that, but no one is brave enough to do it. Make the parents actually take responsibility for their kids. This is not so much an Eastern European problem as a traveller one, where most travellers have minimal education including UK ones even though the majority in the UK live in houses. It is due to major cultural issues, especially for girls where local educational authority home tutoring after the age of 11 or 12 is normal. Apart from this issue most Eastern Europeans have a better attitude and educational attainment as it is seen as a good route to having a better life. Ex-Soviet countries also allow their workforces easier and cheaper access to adult education as a route to updating and improving workplace skills. :y
