It is the media, be it the TV companies, Radio or daily rags....they dig the gutter and any area for any story that will raise passions. They have no morals or feelings. I often wonder whether they are any better than the filth they report and prey on.

I don't feel sad that we didn't execute this man. I feel that he got the best justice we could have served - to lose his freedom and to spend a long life and lingering death hopefully in contemplation over how he chose to lead his life.

What I do feel sad about, is that he has constantly been given the oxygen of publicity, both when he was "inside", goading the authorities and the family of Keith Bennett over the location of his remains, and now in death. It is this which has made it so difficult for the families of his victims to move on, I'm sure.

He should have been locked up and forgotten about with no access to or interest from the outside world.

Yes, I don't agree with the death penalty, but believe that life should mean life! 

It shouldn't cost a fortune either to keep a 'lifer' in a bare cell with just the breeze block pattern to look at for the rest of their days.

Report on the radio today said it cost £10 million to keep him in prison over the years.
A length of rope would have costa couple of quid.

Come now, lets not be hasty. All he did was kill a few little kiddies and lost them on the Moors above Lesser Manchester. And he was criminally insane, as in quite ill.

Which is why he was "looked after" in a building that has NHS signage.


 It's not like he waged war on his own citizens and bombed 1000's of innocent civilians.

It's not like he paid Eminent Academics to make up bogus research proving that smoking is actually good for you. It's not like he dropped the atomic bomb on 2 Japanese cities, using the excuse that it would bring a swift end to the war when in fact the real reason was that he wanted to show the Russians how Mighty he was. It's not like as the leader of a major world religion he told millions of Africans that it would be a sin to wear condoms, thus not stopping the spread of HIV and Aids leading to millions of deaths.

It's not like he sole handedly increased the prices of drugs into the third world thus meaning that many millions wouldn't be able to afford basic health care and would die. It's not like he's presided over the gradual destruction of the NHS leading to tens of thousands of mistakes, leading to death and disablement. It's not like he took money off the disabled and left them alone and destitute and suicidal leading to 100's of deaths.


Yes he was a nasty piece of work, Yes he killed innocent children, but please lets not turn this place into the Daily Mail. There are many more evil people in the world at large and many of them are in Charge of whole countries, religions and Global Conglomerates.


On the other hand, I used to drive past the entrance to Ashworth on my way to work and the staff, clearly had a death wish, the way they pulled out onto the main road without looking.

Ok, all true.

BUT the minute we as a society start accepting that one murder of a child is part of everyday life and there are many more evil cases to consider on a national, global, scale is the minute we devalue life as a whole and us as individuals. We discredit ourselves and are then on the path of genacide on a world scale as in the case of German National Socialism in the 1930's.  The nation mattered, not individuals as they were expendable no matter how they were killed. Individuals were political and military fodder, with Jews, Communists, Trade Unionists, then anyone who disobeyed the Furher killed as a side issue for the greater good of the State. The Soviet Union and Stalin had a very similar view on life.  Once you reach that point you have accepted the death of millions.

So 5 children buried on Saddlemoor was one hell of an evil act by a madman, pervert, who should have been hung. No he was not a Hitler, but Hitler also a maniac did not directly kill anyone; his many evil cronies did. Brady did though directly kill 5 children, breaking the hearts of 5 sets of parents and relatives.  When can any society that calls themselves "caring" just accept that and almost justify it by comparing it to State killings during war or political skullduggery?  When do we as a people just say to the parents of those children, or any others killed by perverts, "oh well, there is far worse that can happen in life around the World, so just accept it and move on"?

The fact is if we are a caring society we will celebrate the death of someone as evil as Brady and make no excuses for it. We celebrate his death just as those in 1945 celebrated the death of Hitler and many of those directly responsible for the deaths of innocents.

Equally comparing a pair of deviants, no matter how depraved and heinous, with Hitler is oppsing ridiculous however you try and dress it up.

For the record, I don't believe that Hitler actually personally killed anyone. He bears a responsibility for the death of millions. Of that there is no doubt, but with his bare hands? I don't think so.

Once again sensational bullshit provides unwarranted attention to individuals or circumstances which deserve no acknowledgement, here or anywhere else, and quite frankly only serves to highlight all that is wrong with the world.

Evil people exist, and contrary to popular belief, they don't exist to make the rest of us feel better. This misguided fallacy is just as self serving as any deviance. Perhaps moreso by virtue of sheer scale.

it was reported ages ago that he was on hunger strikes cos he wanted to die. Well if that was the case then I am glad he was denied that wish. Though I'd have thrown in daily torture on top of his force feeding.
