just watching top gear repeat of the bmw v10 m5 and merc v8 estates.might be worth a look in a couple of years. Astra...? Come come, i think we can do better than that old boy. Keep us in the manner we are accustomed and all that. Shame  nothing British comes to mind...?

Has the series of Top Gear finished already?

Why are they now showing repeats? Dave have shown every second they've filmed by now surely?

ASTRA!!! :D

's suck!  ;D

I thought you were going to live in America >:(

OoOoO... touchY...

No need to take it out on OOF just because you bought the wrong car!  :D  ;D

I've had the astra for eight months now, and, as a runaround, I can seriously recommend it. It's a nippy little burger and 40mpg. :y

Must be a whopper  ;D

I'd have one over a Focus.... but after being in TB's Rover 25, me and small cars just don't get on!
Well, if a lanky bloke goes out with his hair all matted in ****k, you will touch the roof ;D

Having owned the Rover at the same time as a 1.6 Focus, and my brother has 1.6 Astra-G and 1.6 Astra-H, I would take the Rover every time - quicker, and better, more consistent handling.  And more boot space.

Mk3 Cortina  :D

Of the "Savage" variety ;D ;D ;D
3.0 Savage was a Mk2. Some folk dropped the V6 Essex lumps into mk3's & stuck Savage badges on, but i don't think Ford ever made a Mk3 Savage. 8-)

An X30XE transplant might make a nice modern day savage. I doubt it's as heavy as the Essex V6, and a lot more grunt. :D

Could well do Kevin. The Essex sounded nice but was a little lazy especially in auto. Ford used the Borg Warner box then which sapped a third of the power through the torque converter. On the 4 potters it was dire, a good 1600 manual would see off a 2 ltr auto. ::)

Will use the miggy until it goes into pieces ;D

I like big and strong cars but maintenance and fuel costs

become a headache day by day..

if budget permits (depending on the toto - loto chance  ;D)

will go for an old M3...Anyway I use a clit

sport for daily transport.. And miggy for weekends..

Hi Cem. Good to a see another classic car lover. Lot's of interesting alternatives posted but most run along the lines of BMW, Lexus, Audi.
I'm throwing another classic baby into the equation, Dolomite Sprint.
Yeah, cost a bit to buy, can be highly strung but all parts still available, nice comfy wood interior & a good'un would still see many of the suggested cars off on a 0-60. 8-)

A couple of members have mentioned Jags, well going by our experience on Friday there are some potential bargains out there. We sent a 51 plate, Xtype, 2.5 V6 manual, with cloth trim ( the poverty model ) nice graphite metallic colour to auction, 74k Jag history to 60k, very tidy, presentable car, slight noise on the diff but at auction that wouldn't be noticeable. Any guesses on what it did? And yes I know its a Mondeo in disguise. £2050, take the auction fees off and we will return £1970 for it.

That's cheap but i prefer the XJ's. However i'd rather have the X type than a Ghia x Mondeo. Not a real Jag but better than a Mondy! 8-)
