Background...

For the last month or so we have had a cat trying to get into our house but ours keeps fighting it off! Getting a bit annoying now because ours is starting to get a few war wounds and before long it's going to start costing me money!

Anyway, tonight I finally managed to catch it to see if it had any contact details on its collar! Unfortunately it doesn't even have a collar and tonight it sounds really distressed. We actually think it may have been abandoned and just want to try and help it! Tried for over an hour to get hold of various animal welfare charities, even tried the police contact centre and some local 24hr vets.

Upshot is, can't get an answer from any of the charities. Police, although as helpful as ever, were unable to anything other than supply the numbers we had already tried. And as for the vets... Managed to get through to one who said they wouldn't even take it in out of working hours unless it was injured. If we took it in during office hours they would quite happily scan it to check for a chip, providing WE paid for the appointment!  

I'm absolutely disgusted... You try and help by catching a stray cat and get nothing in the way of help from anyone!

Although I would NEVER do it, it makes me wonder why I don't just kill it and put it out of its obvious misery! If it were at all viable I would have brought it into the house to try and sort something in the morning but this isn't an option with our, very possessive and territorial Moggy!

I know what the answer will be next time I have a begging letter/call from one of the animal charity collectors...

Just breaks my heart to hear the little fella crying and not be able to help!

In the end we took it to the woods over the road (all of about 20 yards) and let it go with some food on the ground!

I know one thing... There's nothing wrong with its claws!!!

Could you take it to RSPCA in morning see what they say, as we have one near thats what I would do ...

EVERYONE will do the same, and refuse help.

We had it a few years back.

Our solution - It went in a box with please look after me on it, and was on the vets doorstep a few minutes before opening.

No idea what happened, buy my concience is clear, and our cat aint got big vets bills

I really do feel for you, it can be heartbreaking listening to a cat cry. (not howl) we had a similar situation many years ago. I won't bore you with details but we did end up adopting the cat, or should I say the cat adopted us !
There where a few scraps with our own cat but they did eventually settle down.

same as jimbob, or drive it for 10 miles and let it out somewhere else, thay may have a caring rspca/ vet near there for someone else to deal, after you having no joy.

I would quite happily have delivered it somewhere last night but unfortunately had to let it go because there was absolutely no way we could keep it anywhere overnight!

I think I'll be in touch with the local rag today, as well as telling the various charities what I think of them

Other issue is most charities are so poorly run and inefficient, they never have any money

I do have complete sympathy for them... I know that most are volunteers but still? When my mum used to take in cats for the Cats Protection she had to be available to at least answer the door on a call out rosta! Last night I couldn't even get an answer to a phone call!

Suffered in similiar situations many times..

so heres some info:

if both cats are male and adult , you are in trouble ..

if both cats are female and adult: you can solve the problem within few weeks..

if they are different (male , female)  : you will have babies after


So for solving the problem (if you will keep the other)

you must love and give importance to the other in the eyes of your

old cat..Under any fight circumstance punish the cat who start the

fight..Feed them together but keep their plates seperate (min 1 meter apart)

within few days fights will diminish..

But if they are adult males during their seasons to find females they will pee everywhere(territory sign) and again fight for their territory..

So if somebody stays in home during day time its ok..Can keep an eye on them..Otherwise you need to keep them in different rooms or cages during these times..

if you have garden both in front of home and backside..Prepare them beds in different gardens and take them home only to feed ..fight problem will be solved..

I know what you mean Cem... I got one of my previous cats in this way although both adult Males they were OK...

This time I can't let it happen. They've been fighting constantly and TBH I don't want another cat!
