http://www.devon-online.com/sandpebbles/Welcome.htmlA few years ago I desperately needed a break away from everything. Went to a place called Hope Cove in Devon. To me, it still has magical memories.., exactly what i needed at the time.., its got two beaches., one a small rocky one and the other is miles of sand and sand dunes. Its totally undeveloped.., just a few small hotels, one post office (sells fresh cornish pasties but u have to be quick, they sell out very quickly lol) and a couple of cream tea places.
At the time I stayed in a pub on a B&B basis but it was really good, not the run down sort of thing u can find.
I don't know the name of that pub anymore, but I did find the above link. I am certain that u could probably negotiate the prices down if u wanted, given that its not peak season, but they're a lot less than the other place u were looking at.
As far as I remember, there were a small amount of fishing boats there (had fresh crab salad caught that morning very very locally lol).
Its not quite where u wanted to go.., but a very enchanting and peaceful place if u want that.
The road there is quite interesting.., lots of very windy and up and down hill lanes lol.., Devon at its best!
