BT............
« on: 18 October 2008, 19:32:35 »

....just spent best part of 50 minutes on phone with BT, pay my bills online, they charge me £4.50 for the privilage, of paying online and being paperless :-X..

Anyway explained I am out of the country for 5 months so don't want to pay line charges etc to end december, end up getting put thru to someone in India, there computers are down :-/..will call me back in 15 minutes ::)...waited 15 minutes plus...caled BT back spoke to someone in country, they then transferred me back to India :-X... explained I wanted to keep the phone on whilst away but restrict outgoing calls, OK she said that will cost £26 one off payment :y...I said no in that case I won't pay, and I will just cancel the service, she said but they'll cancel broadband aswell, I said it don't matter as I have to pay for that anyway cos still in contract :P, but I ain't paying BT £26 quid :P...so tranferred back to same guy in UK spoke to earlier, explained situ to him he said but would'nt you be cheeper doing the said thing, errrr, NO £80 is better in my pocket than BT's for something I ain't gonna be using :P...Anyway nice bloke Aaron was service to be cancelled from 12.01 am on 1st December 08 :y

Perhaps it is best not to get me started when It comes to B.T.
Myself and Mr Dusty had no B.T. connection for 55days.

Needless to say their incompetence and ineptitude are hard to believe. :-/ :-/

Best to say no more.  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Hi Lizzie

Yes of sorts. We got £1 for every day we were without the phone (£55). Then we got 3 months line rental(£35) BT would not compensate for credit card machine rental (we do not have a business line) or for the loss of internet connection.

And we got a one off payment of £120 in credit on our BT account.

£210 in total (not much, but we were lucky to get that)

PS We also got all our mobile phone calls reimbursed.

We wouldn't have got hardly anything, but, we had called in our local MP Douglas Hogg, who speeded things up, by writing directly to the Chairman of BT. :y

what are they saying is the problem?
I have a contact in the MD office who should help get things chased if you want, If I was still working there I would have sorted it for you.
btw 3rd call makes a repeat fault so a senior tech should be sent out via the area manager

Well I suppose in the context of everything, with all taken into account, that was not too bad a settlement. :D ;)  I expected BT to really dig their heals in and give you virtually nothing. :(

So Dusty a pretty good result! :y :y :y

when i moved to my new house in feb it took a month to get an engineer out to fix the line at the main station or whatever it is.

they also charged me £125 for the priviledge of having the line repaired on top of my monthly charge - needless to say i cancelled the broadband and got tiscali for £12 a month - i'll be looking to get my line rental transferred to another company when this year runs out too as we dont use the landline for calls anyway

BT had an campaign some years ago headed by the slogan 'millions are coming back to BT'. The obvious implications are that millions have left BT in the first place...
