Key fob repair page
« on: 26 October 2008, 16:19:30 »

OK I am going to bypass a certain auction site and set up a repair page on my site for keyfobs and link to it.

I want to know what people consider as fair prices.

1) Replace 3 switches on the three button fob

2) Replace 2 switches on the 2 button fobs (a lot fiddlier than 3 button)

3) Refit a battery holder (clear out solder fit brass wire then solder battery holder to the wire)

4) Suitable discounts for OOF members.

5) Should I ask at ABS?

6) Should I do VVOC ect?

Thanks :y

Based on Entwood's excellent reply I would only suggest a slight ammendment by keeping the postage in a set price to give a clear all inclusive 'Price List'. ;)

If you want to add the postage on Martin to cover your costs and make a sensible profit then just add a straight £1 to each price point. :y :y  Of course each price should be calculated on your labour v. time at £XX per hour to reach a sensible working wage! 8-) 8-)

1) £15

2) £15

3) £10

4) -£5 on the above

5) Yes

6) If you want/need the work - yes if not  NO  !

had my remote repaired by Martin, recieved last week in post (Via certain auction site).

Very happy , like having brand new remote.

I have also sent my spare for the same job.

All i can say about pricing is, i don't mind paying a decent price for a decent job.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

You don't want it to become a hassle for repairing them.

I bet everybody with a 3 button remote will want you to repair it at some point.

OK for my page I need to identify which fob is used in which car.

2 button as used in mini facelifts, and facelift estates

3 button facelifts

Which other Vauxhall models have which model of fob?

Thanks

Corsa C has mostly this style :

It uses the same switches as the Omega 3 button facelift and fails in the same way.

Looks similar to the Meriva one as well (but then Meriva is bits of Corsa and Astra IIRC!)
