Lol, I'd be lying if I said the temptation wasn't there when walking around Amsterdam on a blokes weekend away... but the main things that stopped me, in this order probably, were

1) Already have a lovely girlfriend, couldn't hurt her and couldn't live with the guilt

2) Worry of contracting an STD (who's been there before you ;D )

3) Mates would take the p1ss forever...

4) Lack of cash!!

 ;D

Went there on my stag do and was doing a bit of window shopping (only window shopping, for largely the reasons James states).

A guy about my age and an older gentleman approach one of the windows and negotiate a deal whereby the younder guy stumps up some readies and wanders off with the words "I'll pick you up in half an hour, dad".  :o

Seemed a slightly unusual father-son relationship to me. I'm more likely to see my Dad become the next F1 champion in his Volvo V70, TBH.

some of the points that have been made are really valid, especially about regulating the girls, their health and the financial elements, however.......

What about those girls who fall outside of anit would be so nice to have y criteria, but that i mean those who have been infected with an STD or something like HIV? in a legal environment i could envisage these girls being forced underground offering services that carry huge risks.....

then there is the 'taxable' element, given the governments love of stealth tax you can imagine them slapping some sort of 'shagging tax' this in turn drives up the cost of the girls and then we have a two-tier system, with those who cannot afford the 'clean girls' then venture into the underworld prostitution and so risks catching a serious disease.....

if only there was an easy solution.......the first part/challenge would be getting some sort of legislation in place

Surely its better to visit a prostitute & pay for there services than go out & rape some poor girl on there way home from a club.

1 a standing cock has no conscience  ;)
2 it must be common practice to bag it before going near anyone these days?
3 mates would probably all be thinking the same   once the first one went they would all go
4 there not expensive  ( i googled )

i think they have their place
i also believe that casual sex or sex with a prostitute is fine if there is a need for it  but i do think that  everytime you bed someone  you dont love you give up a little bit of yourself
i have a brother how is a male whore  and i honestly think he is addicted to sex   however i think he just likes the chase  it does not mean anything to him and to me i would rather do without  (is it cos im getting old?)

hmmm.........you have got to remember there is a whole section of society for who communicating with a member of the opposite sex if very difficult....for one reason or another, whether that be a physical, mental or communication disability/difficulty.......and sometimes 'rubbing one off' isn't enough, whist it may be a brief encounter a visit to a 'lady of the night' may be the physical contact they require

Doug - all my life i have struggled to just talk up to a complete stranger, male or female, i am incredibly shy, this is perceived as me being aloof by a lot of people, so maybe there is something wrong with me?
By here's the irony, in my job i stand in front of complete strangers and talk to them all day?

there has always been a argument that a visit to a 'lady' does stop some innocent woman becoming a rape victim, but that doesn't stop an innocent woman becoming a prostitiute

Though in MOST (not all) cases, the innocent lady has a choice in the matter... whereas rape victims generally dont...?

Even if I was single I'd never, ever, take a girl home from a club and do anything on the first night.

Chances are she's had a few to drink, and the next thing you know you'll be in custody on suspicion of "taking advantage..." (regardless if you have also consumed a few!)

not when the innocent has suffered abuse most of there memorable life and sees this as the only known way of life due to historics

there are so many way women get involved/sucked into prostitution, maybe they grew up in a violent household and have drifted into a similar relationship that has drugs as an additional element, maybe they got 'in with the wrong crowd' when they were younger and the drug habit has escalated, we could assume reasons for a lifetime, the fact is they are in the situation and many do not come out the other end.

James, you are no different to me, i wouldn't think of taking someone home after the first date, if i was out on a Saturday night it was generally with friends so going home without them was really considered.

so why do men pay for it instead of going home to "spank the monkey", which is free  :question

The funny thing about sex is we spend 9 months fighting to get out & the rest of our life trying to get back in.
When sex is good its brillient & when its bad its still pretty good.
