My 03 2.2 DTi vectra has been sat on my drive since july last year and i'm sick of looking at it! It won't start at all and i took it to the vauxhall dealers (dews of halifax) who said it was the fuel pump which is a sealed unit with the ecu that has failed.
Just wondering if anybody knows how i can fix it on the cheap at all! Vx have quoted nearly £2500 to do the job.
Any ideas would be massively appreciated.
It was running completely fine then one day just decided it wouldn't start anymore and the eml came on!
Modified: forgot to put that it is a vectra!
I bought a W reg 2.0 DTi Vectra as a non runner thinking 'I will fix it'
Went to VX and asked for a new pump, and they said they wanted more than £1900 ex vat JUST for the pump, and they also said the warranty would be invalid unless they fitted it... I told them where to go!

Me been me... Went on ebay, spend about 100 quid on a diesel pump, spent half a day fitting it to be back to square one again... :-/
I didn’t learn, and bought another pump off ebay for another 100 quid (bloke said if it doesn’t work, I can have my money back). Anyway, fitted this pump... 3 flat batteries later, and 2 empty cans of easy start (runs fantastic on that stuff btw!) I gave up

... Couldn’t be bothered removing the duff pump to send back to ebay, as it would take ANOTHER afternoon changing the pump to put a dead one back on (otherwise I couldn’t crank the engine over without bending valves - and that was the only way I could move the car - till the battery died!!) Sold the car to a member on VVOC, who ended up putting another engine in it (which I have since seen up and running at PVS last year

)
Since then, I decided im
NEVER buying a car that has that model fuel pump fitted to it
