Driveways

My drive consists of slabs (in many broken pieces!) either side of a grassy bit in the middle (resembling a ploughed field!). My carpets are also now begining to resemble the same ploughed field so action needs to be taken.
Any ideas of a cheap way to put a new one in? Nothing to elaborate.  Just anything to quieten the wife down a bit!

my drive is very similar mate and have the same problem with the mud walkinginto the house
im planning on getting the old slabs up and puting unbroken new slabs down
plus gotta replace the fence the t**ts round here broke
only being able to do bits at a time tho

The slabs break because the drive has no base......

And you needs a proper base, not just a few borken slabs  :y

Redrow's tarmac driveways aren't recommended, esp on the warmer days....

If you are going to park a Omega on it you need to spend money on the base. I did mine years ago - but by the time you have hired a heavy duty wacker plate and roller - you are better off getting somebody in for that part of it. Thing is - you need a good depth of base in which to put scalpings and whack them down - if you just leave it to a cowboy he may not go down deep enough if you are not watching over. When digging out you also have the cost of skips - so try and find someone with all the gear but give the impression you know what you are talking about and insist on seeing the depth they dig to. Why is hiring gear so expensive???
