I must admit to never pushing my Elite either.  Rarely use the kickdown and just enjoy the car.

Now the GLS with the F1 (open back box) I know its top speed in the 1st 3 gears but as much I have enjoyed odd spirited drives in it I am happy to drive with in the speed limits.

Maybe it's because when chav and his mates laugh at the grandad style cars I drive compared to thiers I can still prove a point if need be.  ::)

Hmmm....speed cameras on lonely rural roads. Wonder how long they'd last without being set on fire/pushed over/painted over/sawn down and weighed in for scrap/blown up ;D

Cant see what the fuss is about...so what just means i use slighty less petrol and drive a little slower....big deal. ::)

At a time when the economy is in meltdown, this government wants to roll out more SPECS cameras costing millions in order to spy on us. Just wait until they reduce the motorway limit to 60 then use SPECS to reinforce it. Then, it's just a short step to road charging. Job done.

I didn't know the government had that much spare cash swilling around.

Unbelievable amounts of spare cash...
Huge bottomless pits of it...

Thats how they can afford wars and spy cameras...lol

But no hospitals, schools, or road repairs...!!!

Just been reading about this on the estima forum too.  Point is that speed in itself is seen as the easy option solution to road safety. It isnt. Driving with due care and attention and driving to the conditions is. Granted speed is a big factor but it isnt the whole story. Im sure that many of us would be happy to see the limit increased on some roads and lowered on others (eg from 30 to 20 outside schools). Youre right, on some shorter journeys the difference between doing 50 or 60 is negligible timewise but on longer ones Im sure it would make a difference and, as someone said already, would this mean that those who currently drive at a steady 45 in good conditions when they could be doing 60 then feel that they should stick to 35 if the govt reduces the limit to 50? And how would we feel being stuck behind them then?
