Why on gods green earth would you consider paying for any form of TV whatsoever when it's free if you know what forums to be a member of?

Because some of us earn money to get it legally  :y
I used to think like that, but when I realised that all I was doing was paying to send the rich idiots on holiday...I soon found my common sense again!

I'll stick with the £142 or whatever a year I think. I get too many channels to watch as it is.

£142 per annum doesn't get you even close to what Sky offer if you play with a straight bat Martin.

i have skyHD, it was worth it for free installation & having the dish setup right. Might consider freeview  after 12 months and building a media centre PC.

Got to agree with Tunnie here, dump it after 12 months and add a couple of hum,ax pvt's  and put a free view card in the HD box.

Introducing the Dreambox to Linux also produces favourable results  ;)

Just had a reminder pop up on screen saying my new viewing card is in the post.
Does this mean my EPG may be just about upgraded as well, plus does my box have to be plugged into the phone line for the EPG upgrade.

Not at all.

My main question is regards the EPG and being plugged into the phone line.  (coz mine isnt)  but when it was installed all updates were done whilst phone line connected.

The new card is a separate issue from the EPG, old card out, new card in, job done.

The EPG, when you get, it will be delivered OTA generally during the night - although you will be able to do a 'forced download' to get it in the near future.  The telephone line is not employed for this.

The new guide runs from the disc as it's constantly updated, so you will hear the disc chattering away quite regularly from that point onwards.
