i got the complete opposite impression personally!

For me it felt very natural to ride, with plenty of over taking power and could cruise at 80/90 allll day long.
any 600cc bike with more than 1 cylinder can cruise all day, every day at 100mph+, and mostly comfortable as well, maybe a coffee/slash break for 5 mins every 100m or so....

Tbh, I think they are the 2 most ugly bikes I have ever seen. You should have to be over 18 to be allowed to look at them. :D...........but each to their own etc.
A workmate bought one of those adventure things new a couple of years ago, iirc he paid around £10,000 for it,I told him just how pretty I didnt think it was,he got the hump and offered me a race (we had a 2 mile private circuit where we worked),He had the hump even more after that. ::) ;D

Agreed there are sexier bikes out there, but i think it looks good!

They are also deceptively fast, won't win any races but not too shabby either  :D
Like hell they are, they are sluggish tourers.  There are much, much better tourers out there. Don't get hung up on Long Way Round, their's were very heavily modified, and look how often they kept coming off and having to get help to lift it.
good point, bloody things weigh as much as a small car,if I dropped one of those I would have to leave it where it was, wouldnt have a hope of picking it up.Also power/weight ratio cant be too impressive.
If you want something that can accomadate your height with a LOT of serious grunt and can go round corners quicker than you can even dream of Tunnie, take my advice, test ride the Aprillia. :y

They are easy as pie to lift, due to the boxer engine, plenty of vids in youtube of small people lifting a fully loaded GSA.

Tbh, i don't want a bike with stupid power, i drive a 4 pot Omega!

I have ridden those type of bikes, i get sholder ache within 20 mins, visibility is poor cause i am hunched over, i don't like having the weight on my wrists.

I did over 200 miles on the GS on Friday, and was absolutely fine!
lay yours down (on something soft to protect it) and lift it.  then consider the top heavy beemer, approx 3 times the weight ;)

also, you're thinking of the bike not tipping over, and resting on its protection bars - that doesn't happen in reality.

Its not for sale, so no motives, but take the zx10 out. I know its not your scene, but will show 2 things:

how any 'proper' bike will cruise nicely
what a heavy bike is like to manuover

zx10 is 20yrs old, and tech has moved on. a modern 4 pot 600 should give it a good run to 100mph, and will leave for dust in the corners.

Weight on the wrists is an issue when riding in town I must admit, but once out on the road at reasonable speeds the wind against the upper body counteracts it,at enjoyable speeds the danger is making sure you dont sit too upright in case you get blown off the back. ;D ;D

Tried a Yam XJ6 (replacement for the Fazer), yes silky smooth inline 4. But:

1) Felt too small
2) Hunched over could hardly turn my head
3) Took it back within 20 mins, shoulder in pain!

At the end of the day its all personal, otherwise we would all be riding the same bike.

If you want to experience an uncomfortable bike, take a ride on a Ducati 916 (or one of its derivatives) they are pure torture, even for someone of average build, but well worth it,probably my all time favourite bike.

Tunnie ,you keep looking at bikes which size wise are way to small for you , if you want a larger sit up type go look at a sports tourer ie zzr1400, blackbird,or a Xjr 1300 or something like that or even a retro bike like a honda cb 1300 great bikes they are. a deauville or a xj6 yamaha are no better than what you have got atm .my advice istest ride as many different types of bike as you can ,yes the bwemmers are nice bikes but they are a niche market really ,so get out there and try and be objective

yeah they are all a bit too quick for me. I also want to do some long haul touring, and one of the appeals of the GS is the huge storage on them.

Many people just pass there test and just buy insane first bikes... i am not most people  ;D

Putting on leathers and hunched over a sports bike or even a sports tourer is not what i want. Being 6ft5, i stuggle with most bikes.

I got on the GS Adventure, and he the sales bloke said 'ohh most people struggle with the height, but your fine, here, let me put that seat up for you!'  ;D

For me, i was in a very comfy riding position, excellent visibility, even slow speed stuff was very manageable, i rode through Oxford rush hour!  ;D

For me it ticks all the boxes, i don't think i would need anything more from a bike.

Been to Helmsley (north yorkshire) today,  lots of good biking roads attracs lots of bikes.  A few BMs there and yes I still like them.  It all depends what you want from a bike.  Comfort, storage, reasonable torque.....  I would have one but then I'm not allowed :(
