Absolutely none the wiser.   :-/

It's words of one syllable time - would anybody care to do the honours?

Was there any significance in the fact that when somebody said "Oh God", Gene Hunt muttered "Don't call me that"?

Was there any significance in the fact that Jim Keating's lift was going down?

 :-/ :-/ :-/

Yes and Yes, I think..... :D :D

My take was that Gene was God's ambassador to the newly departed members of H.M Constabulary - - helping them cross over, so to speak. But he enjoyed the make believe world so much he was trying to hang on to them a little while longer --- especially Alex Drake.

Jim was the Devil's equivalent, trying to poach the souls for the Underworld.

In the end the present "team" passed on (the Pearly gates being a pub! ) and Alex popped her clogs in the "real world".

The guy with the i-phone was the next newly departed to pass through the "holding area".

As much as I enjoyed the programme, if, when I shift my mortal coil, I awake to see Gene's face I will not be best pleased ..... another crack at "life" doesn't appeal ..... where's me harp  ::)

OMG -- just had a thought .... are WE all dead ex omega owners, brought to OOF to help us pass over ???   :o :o :o

TB is Gene Hunt !!!!!!!

P.S.  I hope that Audi was a mock up   :'(
my thoughts and feelings exactly, makes you wonder what or who is waiting for us ,,,,

Indeed!  There is a belief that suggests we first go to a plain of existence after death where we can redeem ourselves, or not, before taking the final journey to heaven or hell.

As I stated before, this last episode was particularly thought provoking! 8-) 8-) 8-)

I fear that I've failed that test this time 'round :( :(

'tis not beyond the realms of possibility that we are there already .... waiting ......

Roll on the next season... can't wait to see what Gene ends up driving and how gutted the new arrival will be about his gay-phone ;D ;D

EDIT: Just an afterthought... Gene Hunt's Cortina from Life on Mars resides not far from me and I see it quite regularly ;)

Cant see beeb making another series now that thieve let the cat out the bag as to whats going on?

Same here, now its all explained and the 90's is not too far away from present, so very much doubt they will do another one

Much as I'd like another series I think they should leave it as is ... on the high note.  Too many series try to drag on and on and, in so doing, become stale and generally unwatchable.

Mind you -- there is always scope for a spin off, along the lines of the Sweeney  :y

Agreed, would love to see some more, but perhaps best left on a high, we know the plot now, so,  although left in a way they could do another, I think best to let go now... :)..... :( :(
