This was my second ever cellular telephone (the first was even bigger) ;D ;D

The option of displaying it on the restaurant table was never considered due to the size and the obligation we had to carry them in a briefcase out of sight. :-X

At the moment I'm phone less - and surviving since losing my Motorola A 1000 - despite two Treo 600's, a brace of Blackberry's? and a S/E 910i  laying on the desk as I type this. ::)

I wouldn't mind another up to date telephone that would allow me to OOF when on the HOOF but am clueless as to what to get :-[ :-[
I had a Cellnet Ruby ::)

That was about the state of the art when I first got involved with them. Things were so simple then. :)

Well, in my experience, if you've previously tolerated a Motorola A1000, things can only get better. ;)

Actually, just nicked her phone, looks like there is a gran tourismo 5 preview in app store, free as well (as its a preview I guess)??

hehe, I very much doubt it will be the full game, it will be some cheap reproduction thats a few meg. And called it Gran Tursimo.

I'm talking about any PSX game. I know there is a PSX Emanulator for the gayPhone too but it runs like Poo!! LOL LOL

Just been looking online & although you can do e-mail and calendar while in a call. All the sat nav does is close then reopen and remember your destination. So in fact if you took a call you would be temporarily be lost until you end the call. usefull!! hehe  :y

She hasn't got any emulators on hers, she likes the simple, quick games. Much like myself, which is the reason we don't own a gayStation, and Xbox360 isn't used for games.

To be honest I rarely get chance to use it myself, just nice to know it can do it. And nice wiping the smug smiles off gayphone users now and then. Its worth having just for that. hehe

Hmmm, I have just fired up the satnav on hers whilst I was on the phone, seemed OK to me, other than bloody irratating ;D.  I think I'd prefer it myself if it did block out the Satnav.  Being a male, I can on concentrate on one thing - driving, satnav or phone call ;D ;D.  Guess it depends on what software you are running for the satnav?

Personally, satnav wise, I would rather use the one built in the car, seeing as *ALL* portable ones are poor in comparison. Though will concede, I always have it installed on phone for emergencies.

As we said earlier, we all have different priorities, if one of yours is playing old gayStation games, thats fine :y.  Just don't knock the other options based on incorrect information you have about their capabilities  :P

The gayPhone is as capable as any other smartphone.  You could argue, due to its interface, and Apple's 'closed' system, that its more accessible to people who can't deal with technology (like my brother, or Mrs TheBoy ;D).  Therefore it probably attracts a lot of people who do not know/understand how to get the best out of such devices ;)

Bit like Blackberry users ;D ;D

WM has always been a bit 'geeky' and attracted a different kind of user, generally more savvy.  Its advanatges are (were) a more generic underlying OS (not designed for phones at all), and a massive software library, though each has its own interface.

Love it or loath it, iPhone has changed the market, and virtually everyone - MS, BB, HTC etc are trying to emulate it (badly so far).

I apologise if that is the case. Which sat nav is it?

I can't test on my girlfriend as she don't have sat nav on it.

This is a small snippet from a TomTom Review I found though.

"some problems remain. With a few background exceptions, the iPhone can only run one thing at a time, so if you want to do anything else, you have to quit your sat-nav app.

Of course, you shouldn't be mucking about with email while doing 70 on the motorway, but it's nevertheless irritating that an incoming call causes your navigation to quit. (You can always relaunch it while talking – calls are one of the exceptions that can run in the background – but it's still imperfect."

From Jan 2010 but It may be out of date already if there has been updates.  :y

I quickly tried in on copilot, which is what she uses as it is cheap ;D.  I was on the phone at the time, talking some idiot through a process to reboot a server, so didn't try what happens if an incoming call comes in. She's now gone out, so can't test currently.  Secretly, I hope it DOES shut down (or shut up) the satnav app  :-X.  iPhone Tomtom not a patch on the old WM version (that was similar in abilities to standalone unit) imho.

My old Touch Pro couldn't handle an incoming call when running Tomtom - everything just crawled to a halt.  The stupid thing couldn't even run CheckPOInt and Tomtom together, yet my 7yr old iPaq can run that combination fine, with Media Player in the background (I still use my iPaq on the Kawasaki for tunes, satnav, and DECENT speedcamera (hence CheckPOInt)).  Had a brief fling with a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, that was every bit as kack as the Touch Pro (hardly surprising).  My old HTC Herpes (or was it tyntyn - the first with slide out keyboards) or whatever it was "Just worked". Much like gayPhones  :'(

Let me know, I use copilot also because it is cheap, find its pretty good to be honest especially the text to speech, Last time I tried it was dredfull, now its really clear speach and doesn't sound that computerised. Its routing can be a little strange sometimes, but lets face it when you haven't got a clue where you are it doesn't matter as long as you get there.

As for running multiple apps the HD2 will just keep going, I have it set to close on X (i'm sure you know what i mean) rather than minimise, only to save memory & effectivle battery power but if you change the setting every app you open stays open and it just keeps going. Assuming its all thanks to the 1ghz Snapdragon.

Not sure why I don't like co-pilot. She doesn't have Text to Speech on hers (unless she has bought that add-on recently).

Might be I am too used to the 'tomtom way' of doing things.  Also, postcode on copilot is a bit clunky in that it makes destination history a bit generic. Most annoyingly is that I cannot find a simple way to preplan a route without a gps signal.
