I received a letter today from my County Council environmental dept.; telling me that because I usually make only half a refuse-bag of household waste per week I wont be able to have my wheelie bin emptied weekly (as is normal here) instead, I`ll have to store my refuse until I can
"completely fill a bag".
I live in a rural area and the urban wheelie bin mechanised lorry doesn`t make collections here, the bags instead are collected be a three (yes three) men crew in a transit-tipper, stopping at the roadside to collect our black-bags left inside the coucil provided wheelie bins.....the reason cited for this new restriction, is that the council dept received a complaint from an employee, stating that my making 'just' half a bag of waste means that the council bin-men have to reach 'too' far down into the bin thus putting their health and safety in jeopardy!

Lord preserve us, their job is considered dangerous, but it involves exactly the same action that the customer makes to gently deposit the bag into the bin in the first place......Public service jobs used to be just that: "service"...so, what happened?
