Black VX R8.
« on: 24 December 2010, 17:14:07 »

A mate used to have a black manual MV6, we had the only two in Ming Mong (Immingham). He had his 7 or 8 years & loved it. (Well why would'nt he?) It's still going strong in the Notts. area on an R plate, think the last two letters are VT. Anyway obviously being a man of taste he's replaced the MV6 with a new black VXR8...& why not? I was on the M180 heading into Grimsby following some nondescript car bored @ 80 ish when something flew up behind me & braked hard, i saw the HSV plate & pulled over to let him through then tucked in behind. Over the roundabout onto an urban 50mph limit dual carriageway with another roundabout at the end. I hit 115 & he was away, god knows how fast he was going before i caught him up @ the roundabout. The sound of the thing was jaw dropping. We've all seen them on telly etc but the presence they have up close is incredible.
Still be the Monaro for me in a few years time as they're 2 door. ALL cars look better with 2 doors!!! 8-)

I don't want you to take this the wrong way Guy but is it sensible to drive at those speeds on public roads? - Just a comment, nothing judgemental.

No offence taken mate as you're quite right. It's not a pedestrian area ie no pavements more of a throughfare with no entrances or exits either side but i accept a car innocently changing lanes @ 50mph could've been messy & i was in the wrong.
Some of us don't feel the need to drive fast, some of us can't resist it at times....not very often but you make a fair point. Guy. :y

I like the VXR8's 4 door; it makes a good daily commute - so I bought one :-)

& good on you for doing so old chap. VXR8's are gorgeuous as is my humble MV6 which is of course also a 4 door.
I simply think 2 door cars lok sexier than thier 4 door counterparts hence when the time comes it'll be Monaro all the way for me. Guy. :y

I also like the 2 door sat up.  The doors are generally longer as well which adds to the lines of a car.

My old pontiac was a 2 door, seated 6 no probs, and passngers could get in behind me with out me getting out of the drivers seat, I just had to lean forward slightly.

Absolute pain in a car park though.

Although I would happily own a monaro, I would never consider a 2 door in a million years. In order to allow access to the rear the doors have to be considerably longer than on a 4 door. Meaning getting in and out of the front is a nightmare in any car park as the doors can't open fully. ESP in uk car parks where the spaces are so ludicrously small.

Passengers struggle to get in and out and the front seats have to be empty to allow them to do so. 2 doors are nightmare, I fail to see the advantage?not to mention dinging the edge of your own doors and battering everyone elses in range,  I hate the bloody thing personally.

Although I mite well suffer all that in a Monaro. But if spending that sort of cash I'd go for the vxr8 aaaall daaaaaay loooooong :-*
