Omegas the new Granadas
« on: 19 September 2010, 12:21:15 »

anyone else think Omeegahs will end up like grannys inthat the big donkys with manual boxes will do proper money one day, looking back how many grannys went over the bridge needing only minor cosmetics or plating up for a mot the hoopole.

is it now that people with large barns or fields should capture them while they are here.
How many senators do you see now.................. see what i mean  :D

A lot of the reason behind the grannys holding their money is all the banger lads are after them......
Omega's just aren't the same for racing, their too fragile unlike a granny!!! And far easier to build to race
Can't see them ever being a collectors item!!!!!

nope!! omega,s are very very well built after you weld up all the crumple zones!!! lol and there are a lot of them!!! i had to do it on the mega Omega, as the power from the L.C. Engine and drive train was twisting the shell somewhat!!
but the reason the banger boys dont use them is because on a banger track you cant use fuel injection!! and running a v6omega on a carb is a little difficult as there isnt an inlet manifold available, and you would have to run standalone ignition system :y

Cant compare to the Senator as;

1)  Senators didn't sell well.... In their hay-day, they were few and far between.

2)  Senator's weren't galvanised.  They met an early death unless maintained within a millimeter of their lives.

Omega's aren't used in bangers as they are a soft car....As you sid they have crumple zones which a mk2 grannada doesn't!!!
Also you are allowed to run fuel injection now and still not many people use them..........
Although have seen a with red tops in and they do go well!!!!

i know peoplke using fuel injection,ok that might not be at hednesford but they do.
Also the granada bloys have a race engine that goes from one car to the next and drops straight in.
i reckon if you know what your doiung and have a ford engine you could drop it into a omega and race that.

for what its worth i do see some granny racing using omega alloys lmao  ;D

and i can compare omegas to senators as i have had both  :y

As have I.  But you made the statement "How many senators do you see now.................. see what i mean".... I gave two reasons why the Senator is not 'common place' on our roads now, which you totally dismissed.  Makes no difference if you have owned them or not.  :-/

i remember seeing loads of senators way back when just the same as jelly mould mk3 grannys,i'd say they were popular really.
Was looking in Germany the other day and theres about 20 Senators for sale on the autotrader equivalent.Must of been better metal for the left hookers  :-?

Hmm the shitty old Cologne engine or a tappety old Pinto vs a 3.0 Ecotec V6 or even the 2.0 X20XEV - lets say the X20XEV Omega feels hardly slower than a V6 Granada - yes drove both same day, 2.0 manual vs a 2.8 or 2.9 Granada which is a lot slower than a small Omega V6

they might be crap, but easier to work on, no horrible ecu's apart from the ignition box!  Gives much more crashing room as ford v6 is smaller!!!!

You have to work on them a lot, I remember helping to rebuild the 2.5 (a few times) shite engine, the German one has a siamesed port!!!!

The Ecotec V6 is not bad to work on, worst job is the thermostat

Nothing wrong with the Omega ECU.

What did it in the end was the loan V6 Granada being no faster than the 2.0 Omega in for repair due to pressure washed engine stuffing the sensors. (crap garage)
