dissapointing oofers service
« on: 11 December 2010, 15:02:48 »

firstly i will start by saying i dont wish to cause offence by this, simply just to let people know what has happend as a protection for them,i DO NOT  want to start a slagging match or be rude or nasty, simply informative as i feel good work should be mentioned on this site but also work that people are not happy with, this is why i have started this.
so her goes.
i bought my car elite back in may, having put it through its mot i wanted the cambelt.tensioners, water pump,3.0 cams, cam cover gaskets, hbv and a few other bits doing, this work was carried out by ELITE PETE.at the cost of £500,this work was done and i was very happy with it.
i have since done just over 8000 miles since the work was carried out and developed an oil leak from the cam covers and the cam oil seals so i contacted ELITE PETE to tell him and to put these right as 8000 is not alot to have them go again.PETE said he was very busy at the moment and didnt have the tools to do the seal and that problem must have been caused by something else as if it was his work it would have been from day one,i agree to some extent with him,but having spent £500 i think he should at least offerd to have it back to have a look and see and offer to have put it right but he did not and i feel he was not interested in the slightest at helping.
so i asked another forum member to put the work right, which i have to pay for again.
upon him doing the work we have foung mistakes with petes work, with seal not being out back correctly, without sealent,to much sealent being put on the cam covers causing them to leak and the timing being a tooth out.
i feel people should be made aware that work carried out by some members may not be up to standard and that people should ensure tat the work is carried out correctly and some sort of reasonable garauntee.
ELITE PETE  has done alot of work on this forum and i do not wish to damage his reputation but i do feel as well as commendation and also the faults should be told with his work and anyone else for that matter.
i am not happy with his work and would sadly now not recommend him to others.
if others wish to comment please do not as said above be rude or nasty i am simply stating mistakes and telling others so they have no faults or are left unhappy as i have been.
if admin decide this post is not apropriate please delete and let me know, but if people are not happy with others work it should be said.

I'm quite shocked to be honest, I've heard nothing but praise for Pete  :-/

Define 'Too much sealant' got some photos? Exactly how much was used? I can't see how too much being used would cause leaks unless tons was used?

Cam covers can leak from blocked breathers, which depending on your style of driving can develop in 8,000 miles. Have you changed oil since the gaskets where done?

Cam oil seals would never have been touched during cam cover change, so this would be a unrelated issue.

Lets also not forget you paid someone off a forum for the service, if you want dealer style come back to take it back and complain, then you need to pay for that! Thats what dealers are there for  ::)

If you've only been fixing this oil leak, why did you strip down to the cambelt to inspect timing? I assume you used a V6 locking kit to confirm timing?

I very much doubt it will be deleted. I dont see any reason why it should be tbh. I would imagine that Pete will have his right to reply on the subject. I dont think the admins would see it as their job to take sides on things like this, and doubt they would get involved unless the thread descends into a personal slanging match.Im sure Pete will see this thread soon and then we will know his side of the story.
Tunnie - read the post again. It had the cams changed for 3 litre cams. ::)

Use quote button, makes it much easier to read and understand that first sentence is a quote, not your reply  :y
