Nah, I don't buy the coil PAC theory then, if that's the case.

Intermitant electrical somewhere...  Which bank is lean btw?

The facts are I only ever experienced genuine misfire (not trim related from poor calibration) on a single coil pack. And its always been pot 4.  Thats why I swapped the plugs over last time to see where the fault moved to. It stayed with 4.

I am quietly confident that is the issue, but want to run with this one for 2 or 3 weeks to see if it cures it (or moves to pot 6 - that coil looks knackered) before splashing nearly £100 on a new one.

While this is no real logic as it could be faulty anyway regardless.

the cp currently in TBE is off Albs breaker 3.2. Which had done 80k iirc?
It is in better nic than the one in my car currently on 67k, better than the one on my old car at 105k, and far better than the one on my silver irmscher elite with 137k. None have issues.

I can't help think the problem lies elsewhere seeing as Albs coil PAC appears to have had no effect. As I understand it? Has it? :-/

If in doubt, get it back to the last known working config.  :y

As for the coil pack, it really needs testing using a test plug (but I dont think TB has one).

Ah, shucks, does that mean I have to tip oil in the plug wells :P ;D

Assumption correct, Mr DTM.  So having to go purely by symptoms and results. I'd feel more confident with the car if I could prove the CP was faulty.  As it stands, no confidence to take up North on Friday.

Also, for the same reason, I'm taking the Rover to work tomorrow, as she needs a 4 door car tomorrow as she's give a lift to 3 blokes tomorrow.

How readily available are the DBW coil packs, if memory serves me my local stealer implied that GM ones are hard to get hold of now.

I believe his car was a known good runner, and in fact it still might be ? :y
Might want to take trip up to see him myself in the not too distant future.

Took it for a 25 mile hiding.  The engine didn't miss a beat.  But now I've breaked the rather brakes. FFS.

Its never ending  :'(
In TBE's defence, just been for blast in joshwyatt's car, that overshot on the same braking point as well ::).  The brakes held up better than TBE, it was just the laws of physics, and trying to stop the best part of 3t

You need something lighter. :y Actually, perhaps that's a bad idea. ::)

I was saying, as we were wallowing around the lanes, imagine this engine in a lighter car...  ...ie, an XK
