Driven it to some little cottage in the middle of nowhere not far from Ashbourne & it's bloody lovely, going for a walk soon to find the nearest pub, here for a week of walking & pub cuisine..👍

I do like staying in cottages and lodges in the back end of nowhere, with decent scenery to walk through.

Drove to the hot rod club meeting last night, bloody clutch lost pressure as got to pub and had to call breakdown. I tried pumping it but no joy but when the lad turned up he gave it 3 pumps and it started working. So early night home as he followed me back just in case it failed again, worked fine. Best replace master cylinder then as it was a new slave.
 Asked him how did it look as it handles well and he said its trying to lift the l/h front wheel on sharp roundabouts !

Did you reverse bleed it, they can be tricky to get the air out of and I always found the best way was to force the fluid in through the bleed nipple

No need it came back on its own, suspect its the 30 year old seals! Just ordered a new master. Spent most of today checking out a wiper fault, well 2. Fuse blew when testing, okay after strip and clean but nothing faulty showed up. My conduit joint failed so it was opening up instead of moving the wipers. Will fix it next week ,its Blues festival this weekend and car show.

Now, owning the SWB version, I know they are big cars for small parking spaces, but, I mean, REALLY?  It wasn't an old duffer either.

I have to admit that when I go to ASDA in my ML, though I park on the opposite side of the car park from the entrance, I put my nearside wheels on the line (or maybe slightly over it  ) to 'discourage' people from parking next to me

It really gets my goat when I park in an empty part of the supermarket car park and come out to find someone has parked right next to me!

Used to find that when i had the tin tent. Parked well away from other vans. Went out for the day. Got back and some bugger parked right up next to me in a near empty field.

Having helped step granddaughter and her boyfriend change a broken 5 speed gearbox for a used 6 speed one in their latest MkIV Golf (they now have 3 of them) spent part of yesterday sorting gear change mechanism which was gummed up with old grease/muck so changing forward gears and selecting reverse is is now sweet and smooth.

Replaced the front brake pads on the Audi A6. It’s a straightforward job but is hampered by a few things. Firstly, even though the car rides on factory 20” alloys, it sits quite low and the body kit side skirts make it quite low for the trolley jack. Once the jack is in place, you then need to raise it higher than necessary to be able to place an axle stand somewhere safe. Secondly, it has chavvy painted calipers so I had to be careful not to scratch them when removing the anti-vibration clip. Thirdly, getting the clip back on is an absolute arse. 
Next job is the rears.

Guessing it'll have a silly leccy hand/parking brake .... if so, is it easy to tell the car to wind the caliper off?
You can tell my ML via the dash cluster as well as via  diag box .... it told me just this week I need brake pads, which I assume are the rears cos I did the fronts last year.

Yes it is a leccy parking brake so I have to use my VagCom software to put the rears into maintenance mode and then tick ‘retract piston’ or something similar.    It can be done by removing the parking brake motor, winding it back out manually and then clamping the piston back out in the traditional method, but I’ll try the software route first.
Downside is, a battery charger should be connected during this process so that the electric current is stable during the pad change. I wouldn’t want it to run the battery down enough for it to retract and squash my fingers.

I just looked at the software and it’s ’Start lining change mode’ so I wasn’t even close.    Also just realised that I can turn the ignition off once the pads are in lining change mode open position.

Finally got around to finding the source of the coolant leak on the Omega.
Its coming from the Thermo switch just below the top hose.
How to fix ?
New switch - if available ?
Some kind of sealant ?
Something else ?

The ML will have traditional handbrake shoes * so a rear pad change should be straightforward.

* Because, for all their faults, Mercedes engineers understand that where the parking and service brakes are separate, they are actually better.
