……..
but this W166 ML uses a leccy parking brake on the disc. You tell it via the dash cluster similar to Alan's VAG above. ……..

You have the added advantage that you can put your EPB into service mode from your dash menu  :y , whereas I have to plug a lead (Ross Tech VCDS Vagcom) into my OBD port and run a laptop, or use my OBDeleven Pro dongle (yes, that’s eleven, not 2 or 11)  :) and use my mobile phone. I prefer using the dongle as it can stay in the glovebox and is there whenever I need it.  :y

Always handy to have a dongle in your glove box, just in case  ;D

Not fitted yet, but took delivery of a brand new Gates, Omega Aux. belt tensioner.
Starting bid on ebay was £1.75.
No one else bid, so thats what I got it for.  :)

Nice one, it’s not often a bargain like that comes along.  :y

Fitted the new Aux. belt tensioner. Quite an easy job, although getting the bottom bolt back in is a bit awkward,
Then set about removing the top fan switch from the rad. When I took the switch out, the brass insert it screws into fell down inside the rad !
Then removed the rad to see if the situation is salvageable.
When I got the rad off the car, I noticed a pink patch on the bottom right corner.
This may or may not be connected to the leak from further up on the same side.
It looks like theres a good chance I will be ordering a new rad.
Will ascertain for certain in the morning.  ::)

At least you have found the failure point.

By the time you've buggered about with it, you could have a new radiator fitted  ;)

The threaded insert is cast into the plastic end tank when it's moulded, effecting a meaningful repair is less likely than ToneE B Liar being hung for treason on BBC News at One.

New rad and fan switch ordered. Had a look and I may have been able to fix it, but theres always the worry that it wont be a 100% repair and it would always be in the back of my mind that I could lose all the coolant at some point.
Not worth the hassle.
Should be delivered Weds. and Im off work until Friday night, so hopefully back on the road in a few days.
