Hopefully a temporary setback.  :-\  ::)
Hope you get it sorted easily,  :(

It turned out to be the top heater matrix pipe had popped off, so when I eventually managed to reattach it to my satisfaction all seems well.  :y

So far.......  ;D

Just put a new handbrake cable on the MV6, that is not a good job to have to do without a ramp, had to drop the centre boxes and remove the heat shields. Just as well I had a new one in the garage as the dealers don't carry them ( order in only) and about £50. Old one was solid on offside.

I did mine for the MOT, as it was rusty and seized.

As you say, not a fun job without a ramp. The heat shields have to come off, but the exhausts don't. The amount of hassle that taking them off isn't justified by the slightly easier job that it allows.

I bought mine from ECP, who also had to order it in. It arrived the following day and was £20.

Snap MoT was this morning and no hand brake on the offside, I have had this one in the garage for about 9 years can't remember how much it cost back then, but it was from the dealers. Estate and Saloon use the same part.
