It was def cam sensor changed in Sept 2006, Wifey been out in car today, she said it was playing up again and EML staying on.

I have come home from work and code read the engine P0340, P0700 & P1700 present!

Read the transmission ECU, P0700 & P0748 (Pressure Solonoid) present.

I still believe Gearbox has underlying fault, P0748 ,surely this fault isn't link to cam sensor?

P0748 is worrying.

The P0340 is cam sensor though. When they did the cam sensor, did they clear the codes from the ECU?

Are the codes 'Present' or 'Not Present' or 'Intermittent'

I have cleared all of the codes from all of the ecu's.

Gearbox oil pressure sensor was changed in Sept 2005, cost me £300.

Does the P0748 indicate that the box is on its way out?

If so can refurbs be relied upon? and can they be fitted easily?

Right, the cam sensor is an easy fix, so sort that first - it needs doing whatever.  Then see what pops up.

Agreed  :y

Is the autobox playing up then? If not....i wouldnt change it just because of a code popping up....that might go away when you do the cam sensor.

If you still get the autobox code after doing the cam sensor.....check the version of g/b ecu software if you can....version 10 is the latest i believe.....TB will be able to confirm....and get it updated first....this might get rid of the code.

And even if it doesnt i still wouldnt go changing a good working autobox just because of a code  :y

Had car in at Vauxhall in Nov 06 to have Firmware updated, EML was on then and the technician couldn't clear it!

Also asked them to enable cruise control as my car should be DBW but cruise still won't work, maybe stalk is faulty?

Car does drive okay Taxi, sometimes feels as if gears dont want to change up from 3rd but it does eventually!

Will monitor transmission ecu but wont focus too much on codes until ive sorted cam sensor out.

I now use the Vauxcheck program from WWW.GENDAN.CO.UK I also have the engine check system and ELM327 interface set up on my laptop, works a treat, reads Trans ecu, ABS ecu, Engine ecu and Immobiliser ecu!

Thanks for the help again guys, I will keep u all posted

All the symptoms point to the cam sensor.

Guys

Meega is now permanatly in Limp mode with EML on.

No P0340 present, but P0748 Pressure Solonoid A is present in Transmission ECU!

I had this changed 2 years ago, does anyone know if this is something that a good mechanic could change rather that a G/Box specialist?

PO700 & P1700 appered on Engine ECU but cleared those.

Once this Solonoid is replaced i will change the Cam sensor again.

Cheers

Not good news  :(

Sorry i dont know.

But if your driving it about in limp mode......use the gear selector to get 1st and 2nd...it will put less strain and stop the torque convertor too hot.....it will clunk a bit changing gears but better than trying to pull away in 3rd all time  :y

Thanks Taxi!

I have used that mode of changing gear before, it does klunk but at least it works!

Managed to clear all faults and EML, LMF Vauxhall quoted £260 inc vat for new pressure solonoid.

Have found an Accident damaged 2001 Y reg Omega in breakers, only done 35k miles, have asked for quote for whole gearbox, may be cheaper!
Only thing is, advert says its a 5 speed auto, thought these boxes were 4 speed!

Cheers
