Autobox this time
« on: 20 July 2007, 12:02:59 »

Right this has been pissing me off all week, and now its just making me mad ::)
Have to poodle everywhere because everytime i floor the throttle, (when I say floor it, i mean not floor it to kickdown, but just before kickdown) autobox comes up on the MID and goes into limp. It is fine on restart, but as soon as you put the peadle to the floor, it does exactly the same thing again. So its not a one off, but a constant problem and is there everytime we use the car.

Any ideas.

Have you fixed the crank sensor?

Additionally, I would replace the fluid.

Yup the crank sensor has been done a week now :)

Well am I right in thinking that the autobox plug is on the pasanger side, near the back of the box? The 13mill nut?
If so its not good, it looks like some clown has had a go at it already, and its compleatly rounded :(

The bolt is standard, motorserv should sell if you take old one in, as should most decent hardware stores. May have to hacksaw it to right length though.

One other odd thing, as we know the ABS/TC light comes on at random. But when the autobox screws up the TC light comes on at the same time?
Recon this has any bearing?

Possibly.  I think gearbox gets a speed signal from ABS/TC unit.  Reading codes would be quickest way to find out what ECU thinks is wrong, hence why lighting up warnings.

codes are 21 throttle position sensor, which im gonna look at tomorow if it aint raining. And still 89

Would 21 be related to the lumpy tickover and maybe the gearbox problem?

Gearbox does (indirectly) get the tps reading.  Need to find out what gearbox is complaining about, and a code reader is required for that.
