No but maybe worth a try, as long as it's straight off a running car rather than having been sitting outside in the damp for weeks.

I have found from bitter experience that araldite is not a good insulator ::)

I'm trying to think what might do a better job...

I would be tempted to clean it all up and try it. Clean up around the cracks as best you can and give it a good coating of "damp start". They may well be tracking spark energy away but equally it could be that they'll cause no problems without a plug well full of oil. It's not a difficult part to replace if that fix doesn't work and at 80 quid or so a side, the coil modules are a bit dear...

Kevin

Just got a price from Vx main dealer via internet enquiry. Retail £114.56 inc VAT. A bit off with a TC card, so probably circa £100.
I'm going to try a patch-up as suggested and will post the result.
Cheers,
Bill .

Where from, Mark? Do the prices vary between Main Dealers?

Are coil packs coming down in price. I seem to remember they were around £100 each TC a couple of years back...

Work finally completed. Thanks to all who replied and gave advice.
I refitted the old cracked plug coil, after taking Kevin Wood's advice, with a thorough clean and spraying with Damp Start, and of course changed the plugs and cam cover gaskets.
Then after double checking everything twice, I turned the key. And guess what! Burst into life immediately and now runs with no misfire, more power, and the slight hesitation is no more. A great result!
Just a few checks over the next few days re. oil leaks and hopefully great motoring until the next challenge arrives.
Thanks again,guys.
Bill.
