I'd go for a genuine GM Crank Sensor knowing how critical they are....

Who makes them for GM anway? Siemens?

Its not my car - mine would get genuine. Cost is an issue on this one.

Has James's 3.0 Scrapper got the right one fitted? (I mean a replacement one as the original will be impossible to unthread), failing that I guess eBay is the obvious place but I seem to remember Vectrolsys having loads of problems with sensors he bought off eBay for his 2.0

Didn't SAAB use the 3.0 in the 9000? Worth looking at Saab parts suppliers?

I used a pattern crank sensor - was made by Siemens so same as genuine. Has been fine for a couple of years. Cost about £40 to £50 so not much cheaper than genuine on TC. So I'd go for whatever is cheaper.

Cambelt kit - couldn't find a facelift Conti kit either. I have a Gates + SKF kit off Ebay for £80.95 delivered so quite a bit cheaper than Vx TC. Used one of these last time - no problems and the belt has the markings - genuine doesn't anymore.

Crank sensor is £37+VAT TC, so that is about as cheap as you can get.

Cambelt kit is £90ish + VAT on TC, but will probably lack markings.  Guess thats no big deal...

I can confirm that the Gates belt still comes with markings, but like you say its hard to beat Vx Trade Club ;)

The contis are much cheaper, but don't appear to do one that fits a 2000 3.0l

I also found the crank sensor couldn't be had more than a quid or two cheaper than TC from the dealers so I'd go genuine with that.

Have fitted a Gates kit to el_swervo's Omega and it looked good quality. SKF bearings IIRC and indistinguishable from genuine on the whole, and the belt had markings on :y

Crank sensor here for £28, and others for 45+ . They list parts from a few catalogues hence the duplicates.

and here they do a kit specifically for late model v6 engines.

I had a belt kit [gen vx] fitted 3 months ago and my kit had the markings on the belt, plus if it fails then i get parts warrenty on the damage  it will cause. So in my opion gen vx every time.
