TBH, I don't know the answer to either of your questions, but I'm pretty sure that the VX Monaro is based on the Omega chassis, and I do know that the 4 pot front brakes are pretty much a straight swap.

I'd guess you'd have to upgrade the suspension too as the big V8 lump is somewhere around the 6 litre mark, so must weigh a damn sight more. You'd also definitely have to change the transmission and diff to cope.

If you have a look at this link http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1204835889 you'll see that one of our member's older brother has a Monaro that has the lump we're talking about with the Wortec supercharger added.

Perhaps that'd be a good starting point.

Personally, you might find it cheaper to just buy a Monaro though. You'd also more likely get more of your investment back if you ever went to sell it.

From researching it, it should fit, but will take A LOT of modifications / custom parts.

To be honest it would be easier (and cheaper) to get a holden from down under and make that look like an omega than it would putting a v8 in one.

The small block, all alloy V8 (LS1 & LS2) is not too far off the weight of the V6.

i know of a low mileage 400horse (standard  ::)) LS2 for sale, think its around the £6k mark if your interested  :y

If you shop around you can probably find an old yank tank kicking about for around 1K with the 5.7 V8 in it basicly the same as the monaro engine should be an easy enough job as the same engine was in the Holden Commodore in right hand drive which is the same base as the omega.
